Brightwells have an auction at their Bicester venue that is from the Jaguar/Land Rover collection. all lots are sold without reserve. There's some interesting cars on the list like an Austin 1300GT, a couple of Metros, a P6 Rover Estate and a bunch of pedal cars.

Brightwells are proud to announce that they have been selected by Jaguar Land Rover Classic to offer over 200 items from their Collection, all at NO RESERVE.
The sale will be held at Brightwells’ usual venue, located at Bicester Heritage, a business campus dedicated to historic motoring, based at the UK’s best-preserved WW2 RAF bomber station – the former RAF Bicester. It will take place on Wednesday 21st March 2018 and will feature an array of classic British marques from Austins to Zodiacs.

Overall less than half the cars sold.

Many went provisionally (incl two of the minis listed above), and then sold.

But I'd say half the cars were so far under the estimate (ie over 20% down) that they were a no sale.

My mate bid on the Island Blue Mk2 S (an honest looking car) but dropped out at 21K - it ended up at 22750.

It seems to me as though the mini values are relatively safe at the minute and not suffering as much as some other marques.
I had an interesting chat with a chap the other day who thought that there would be a glut of “older” cars (he thought 1950s stuff) as their elderly owners died off or went into care. I suppose for now the mini scene is quite diverse in terms of age appeal.

I thought so but then add on the buyer's premium 12.5% + Vat = £26,161

Looks a nice genuine car!

The yellow track prepared '67 Cooper I remember when it was red. At £25K + premium = £28750 that's abit less than it sold for about two years ago but my reservation would have been that fast road engine which really looked an unknown quantity. (Could swear that car was raced at Brands last year which ain't in the description!).

Went to Brightwell's Bicester Auction today. No Minis, a lot of mediocre condition cars (runt of the James Hull collection) but everything sold inc -

1980 1.3 Allegro £1500
1981 1.5 Allegro £3200
1978 1.3 Allegro Estate Shitty Brown £700
1978 VP Allegro Shitty Brown £1500
1979 VP Allegro £3000 - can't beat coachbuilt quality!

To please Rich and Mark there were a couple of scabbyish 1300 GTs sold at £4600 and £3400.
A reasonable, no paperwork Guernsey import Austin 1300 Estate went for £3400, a 'loline' low hydro' 67 1100 Estate fetched £2600, and a 68 VP 1300 for £5500.

Metros were popular with a 'so so' MG Turbo at £6000. There were a couple of low mileage autos for around a grand.

Oh and a scabby Mini pedal car needing restoration fetched £190!! Well it did have a Mk1 grille.

All prices plus 10% plus vat.

I was also there and the prices of the pedal cars were interesting! Had to snigger as all were labelled "No V5 present!"
The shark nose fine Ferrari went for less than the next Ferrari style car, much less which surprised me!

Most of the cars at Brightwells went, I thought, for strong prices. The 2 1300GTs were expensive for what they were. The 1100 Estate was in my opinion a much better buy being rarer and in much better condition - as well as around half the price!
As you say, No Minis or MGs unless you count a rubber bumper Midget and Metro/Maestro stuff which is all too recent to be of any interest to me.

A huge crowd there - the catering couldn't keep up. A good, well attended sale of some real rubbish!

the thing is,, this sort of sale is ace for 'people like us' who like the sheite that normal people can afford.

i think brightwells realised this, hence the no reserves and the good mix of stuff

its all well and good going to fancy auctions watching cars sell for mega coins, but in the real world its very few people who can afford, or want them

just thing, that bloke from the jd classics thread could have gone to brightwells and bought everything for the cost of one fancy posh car!
