Hi everyone.
i was lucky enough to purchase AYA499B from Steve Entwistle.
yesterday I was at the german TÜV (like an MOT in the UK) to get the car registered here.
The car has no hazard warning switch; to comply here I need one.
What was offered in 1964? what would be the best period part I could use?
I read on another forum about LUCAS accessory no. 54006501.
Would this be the right part? where exactly was is (should it be) installed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - as would a possible source for said part.
Cheers!
Francis

Pre 1975 we only had arm signals, can you sit in the car during the test and wave at the tester?

i tried that - i was waving frantically
as it so happens, i got the necessary papers (as I know the chap and have had a few cars go through his checks). even so, i'd like to install on.
i saw this:

this would be OK i guess.
think so too?

In the UK the MOT takes in to account what a vehicle was required to have at the time of manufacture so it is still legal to drive a pre '63 vehicle that didnt have seatbelts fitted etc.
Surely the TUV has similar rules?

what I had hoped for as well. but the fact is that all cars are required to have hazard indicators.
for those of you that can understand german, have a look here:

actually, Hitlers protoytpe convertable beetle, which is in the vw muesum has them fitted, it had to be done so that it can be legally used on the road!
i only know this from that link someone put up about that prototype beetle that was resored back to as new condition - all the things wrong with the convertable sent the vw annoracks into a slathering frenzy of self rightous anger, then they got a huffy when a german guy pointed out that no hazards = no mot.
