Very nice Mark!
I will however, be cheering from afar.
I'm sure you will have a great day though.

Re: Goodwood 76MM
Jason Stanley is another Mini driver in the pre '66 saloon race. . So is that four Minis for that race?
Hate to sound like I'm twining on here but does anyone else think it's too expensive?? Evidently I'm in a minority because due to demand they're not opening ticket sales up to the 'general public' this year so it's £39 for a mandatory scholarship added to my own and my son's ticket (who's a student) which comes to £270 for a day's speccying at Goodwood for us both , plus fuel of course plus accoms plus food brings it to a pretty penny for a day out. They even try and charge you £7 to post the tickets!
Costs us about £45 to go to the Gold Cup for us both and £5 for a grandstand seat if we want one.

Holy crap! This is shaping up to be a classic, though I say that every year, but it's pretty much true every year!su_mark wrote:

As I've said before...sometimes it's cheaper to enter as a competitor than pay to spectate!Pete wrote:Jason Stanley is another Mini driver in the pre '66 saloon race. . So is that four Minis for that race?

i know someone who used to get one of those cheapo helicopter charters into goodwood (they are about £150, something like that), get there, do the whole patting down the pockets, blaming his wife, etc then 'remembering' that the tickets where on the sideboard in the (expensive) hotel.
the bloke on the inner gate would feel sorry for him (and the other three people from the same helicopter) and just let them in
at the end of the day, another mate would just pick them all up from outside

Re: Goodwood 76MM
The Timetable for the Goodwood 76MM has just been released. It's a packed programme. If you are doing both days I would suggest concentrating on the Paddock on Saturday if you want to see the cars up close and spot a few celebs, and Sunday venture round the track for the race action. Also the food is expensive compared with other events, so you might want to pop to Tesco (other supermarkets are available) to stock up before you go to the venue.

Re: Goodwood 76MM
Two Swiftune Mini Clubmans as expected in the Gerry Marshall Trophy, plus a Metro 1300 and two Datapost Fiestas!
Eight Mk1 'S's in the Sears Trophy with several debut appearances, some quite surprising! A heap of Tinas of course, a smattering of Yank tanks and several Mk2 Jags, one each for the Dorlins and what must be a favourite in Chris Ward's JD entry!
Very short race for the Gerry Marshall Tropy though at only 15 minutes! and 20 minutes for the pre '66.

Re: Goodwood 76MM
Don't panic, The Gerry Marshall races are split into two as last year.... the 'Trophy' is on Saturday evening and is 45 minutes long, two drivers. The 'Sprint' is on Sunday, just owners, reversed grid!Pete wrote:Very short race for the Gerry Marshall Tropy though at only 15 minutes! and 20 minutes for the pre '66.
I've been paired up with the very rapid Dickie Meaden, and whilst I'm dead chuffed about that, it's always embarrassing to have someone step into the car and drive quicker than you can!! No pressure!
With the metro and fiestas it might mean we can have a little FWD battle going on, but lets hope the Minis can stick it to 'em!
Re: Goodwood 76MM
I'm hoping for a bit of late afternoon sun and to catch the 1st part of the Gerry Marshal on the outside on the approach to Madgwick. The sun should be setting towards the end of the race.

Always a good spot, but the hot whiskies are served on the infield side!surfblue63 wrote:I'm hoping for a bit of late afternoon sun and to catch the 1st part of the Gerry Marshal on the outside on the approach to Madgwick. The sun should be setting towards the end of the race.

Gjerdrum, Mads ? Or Martin Hunt but he's had his own car in previous races.billycooper wrote: who's driving the second Willow Swiftune Cooper S ?
