I bought a '66 Cooper in '95 and the receipt says I paid £675! It needed inner and outer sills,front arch repairs, front valence and a bit of patching in the boot floor, but there was probably a fair bit of filler under the shiny paint that I never found.
It had a black Hornet interior, but a full red/ brockade seat set from a guy up in Aberdeen was a big cost at £200 (but he did deliver it to Edinburgh)
Still, what makes me laugh nost is that I actually wrote to the DVLA to get the V5 sorted as it incorrectly listed it as a 970.......

I must scan some photos of the various cars in the box. the Cooper had a great oil cooler which was a long coiled length of pipe (about 1/2" bore) about the size of a can of Coke, mounted at an angle approximately in front of the heater tap. there were the reamains of wrinkled 'cooling fins' soldered between the coils. I've never seen another like it (and probably never will)
What's even more surprising is that my Mum put up with me having the car up on a chassis roller on the driveway for weeks. What must the neighbours have thought??????
