How many Engine Capacities were factory for a Mini?

Post by steve »

I am trying to work out how many different engine capacities there were for standard (factory) mini's over the years. So I far I have got 850, 970, 997, 998, 1070, 1098, 1275. Who else can add to my list?

Cheers for your help,
Best regards, Stephen

I think the 'Orange box' pre production prototypes had 948 engines (mounted back to front), but they are hardly standard production cars.

Other than that, I think the list is complete

as far as I can assume, chuck is speaking of the famous S.A. crank, which was used for 1100´s over there. I have one here....

The old pigs ear as Rich put it (and quite correctly) was a short stroke (almost 70mm) 1098, and as near as damit a short stroke 1100 motor.

It had huge 1300 GT con rods and heavy as hell pistons that looked like low compression 1275 ones with extra pin to deck height and a 8.8-1 compression ratio.

We sell MOST of the usable one to the UK guys :D
