Re: 1968 MK2 Cooper
Thanks for the comments, yes they are original D1 10x5 wheels and 998 Cooper disc's. Ive tried to use as many original parts as i could, the callipers were in pretty good condition so i decided to go with them instead of an "S" setup.

Re: 1968 MK2 Cooper
It's my favourite thread of the forum. 998 Cooper - love 'em to bits. Bags of torque, strong as an ox, you'll never over rev it or break it in a zillion years, red and black, Dunlops......... what else would you want?
I recon that you should team up with someone wot can write proper and someone with a bent for computer stuff and get this thread plus the stuff and photos you haven't mentioned/forgotten and self publish a small 'how-to' and 'here's how I did mine' type book. Put me down for the first two please......... A pleasure to read this thread and the comments from the contributors
Regarding the brakes v S brakes. Said several times but while I was at Uni with loads of other sponsored mech eng students, we had all the facilities and sponsors/manufacturers to provide kit and all the test facilities you could shake a stick at. I don't have my old notes now but Al Iles does and that the standard S brakes were 'better',it all came down to 'subjectively better than, and at what?... and at what cost' In some instances you could only tell 'better, what!' using accurate test instrumentation. But for the average road user............. Got my steel helmet on now awaiting the incoming mortars

Thanks for the kind words Peter, you are right there are dozens of photos i haven't shared but I am not sure i have enough for a book? Come to think of it I am not even sure the way we have done things has been right? I an an engineer also and always seem to find a way to get the job done, my father is also a retired welder and has been helping me along the way, he can be seen in the background on a couple of photo's tinkering and fettling. You are right about the 998 and i cant wait to get it on the road.

Re: 1968 MK2 Cooper
Coming along well. Dunlop alloys are so good on a Cooper, arches nicely filled and just suit the car in my opinion.
