I think if you check, that is JB's later mid 70s car that he used for a seasons club racing before doing the BTCC the following year.
Pretty sure that article/car is from 1972, the year after he raced the supposed same car in the Osram championship......

Most of the photos show the car on Firestone IB19s which would date them 71/72. The photo on the grid at Brands the car looks to have Dunlop slicks which means post mid 72.

He cartainly went back and did a seasons club racing in the mid 70s before returning to the BTCC the following year.

You will notice the doors, boot lid and bonnet were a slightly different colour, the steel set as the pictures were painted a year after, the alloy set were used in the Osram championship, the car also ran perspex windows, after the group 2 year I think it reverted to a club race with a glassfibre front. The alloy doors were used on Reg Wards spaceframe mini in the end. I tried to buy them! :ugeek:

Think there is a few photos of the car in this set, driven by Longman himself it says, rather than Buncombe middle senior. No idea if it was a BSCC round and they got it wrong. No decent close ups though, as Minis were the run of the mill thing then, like trying to photograph a fly,

They are made of steel, hand made by a panel beater.

Yes, very nice car Alex. Have you seen a funny detail ? The original car wears Dunlop stickers with... Firestone tyres :D !
