Hope to get to the last HRDC round at Donington on October 15th, decent line up!

Donington Park Sunday 15th October - HRDC Coombs Heritage Challengefor pre-66 Jaguar Saloons / HRDC Allstars with invited Academy & A-Series Challenge / HRDC Touring Greats with invited Academy & TC63

Sounded like a good scrap between Julian Crossley's ('59) Mini and Mike Jordan's A40 on Sunday at Mallory! Jordan won the race.

Was a really good race where neither driver put a foot wrong...

We have the new race Mini in the Silverstone Finals race the week after so as long as its finished and tests well we will be out in it...

Might see you there if you do Andy. It's such a shame that there's no saloon race at Castle Combe's Autumn Classic this year on the 7th October, such a great meeting otherwise!

The Jordans are entered in the TC63 race in the Austin GT40!!!!!! There are 6 A40s in their class, so if it's like Goodwood there should be a bit of door to door action.

4 Neil Brown Driver 1958 Austin A35 Speedwell 1293
5 John Yea / Chris Ryan Driver 1962 Austin A40 Speedwell 1293
31 Chrissy Palmer Driver 1963 Austin A40 Speedwell 1293
52 Paul Clayton Driver 1959 Austin A40 Speedwell 1293
77 Mike Jordan / Andrew Jordan Driver 1959 Austin GT40 Speedwell 1293
91 Simon Blanckley Driver 1959 Austin A40 Speedwell 1293
96 Chris Pearson / Richard Fores Driver 1966 Austin A35 Speedwell 1298
105 Ben Colburn Driver 1959 Austin A40 Speedwell 1293
121 James Colburn Driver 1959 Austin A35 Speedwell 1293

Enjoyed it today and the usual 'craic' with the usual suspects. Will Dick didn't race cos he'd just sold his car, his entry was taken by Richard Dodkins in his old Goodwood car who fell off somewhere then came back on a few laps later and made good progress. Tim qualied well up despite a HT lead break, started really well and then fell back, James Dorlin had a good early scrap with Nick Riley who's car was looking worse for wear after he got "Galaxy'd" in qualy. Dorlin reeled Tim in and then very briefly overtook A Series leader Nick Paddy but Paddy got the win. Howard (Take That) Donald was in a Jordan Mk1 Cortina, qualied near the front but span off. Went very well once he came back on so some celeb drivers can actually drive! Dead Jaags littered the pit lane in their race so was a bit of a bore, TC63 was set to be a great scrap between John Young's Jaaag and Mike Jordan's AGT40 but Jordan dropped off with a fault of some kind and then rejoined two laps down. Went like stink when he did though as Andrew did after the driver change.

Still don't like the HRDC mixing it with all the modern single marque bangers at their meetings, an odd mix , but another great day at the races! :)

Q Stu with the pictures.....

Tim's lost 2 places in final laps when he lost 3rd gear completely managed to get over line afterwhich the smoke from the oil on exhaust filled up the cockpit - straight on trailer where the oil patch got bigger and bigger .. . great drive from all the minis

So this does not get passed over I have changed the thread title.

Yes a good day at Donington. Tim did what is becoming normal practice and uses the qualifying as a test session! There were various small problems with the ignition, a loose lead to the coil being one of them.

There was a great variety in the paddock and on the track, one of the good things about the HRDC meetings.

The racing was exciting in both the TC63 and the Academy/A-Series/All Stars races. Here's Andrew Jordon in the TC63 testing the limits of the track exiting the Roberts chicane

And some synchronised wheel lifting at Roberts in the ACD/A-Series/AllStars

I'll post up some more pictures when I have edited them all

The performance of that old Westminster has been transformed in recent times, probably just before Plato did so well in it at Goodwood. What happened to Neil Brown's A35, that was rapid aswell. I thought I saw it getting dragged out of the gravel trap at Redgate with a door hanging off.

Still surprised that I've yet to see a Mini derivative in the A series Challenge, crying out for a quick Marcos.

That Westminster needs the front suspension sorting as it was a bit bouncy when Plato drove it a Goodwood.

I didn't see the A35 in the race, it is quick though.

Here's a few from the TC63 qualifying

That Herald Coupe had Cosmic wheels on it like the le Mans GT6s had on. It was smoking from the start and had several stops before it finally spat it's dummy. That Jowett sounded like it had done it's bearings when it came in! Buy yes really like the variety you get in the HRDC compared to HSCC and the presentation of the cars.
