sclemow's mk1 Cooper S

Post by sclemow »

I've 'finally' got the mini finished and on the road. There are a few snags to sort out, the temperature gauge needs sorting as does the fuel gauge. Once the suspension has settled it needs resetting properly and there are a few trim rattles to sort out.

The engine pulls like a train although I've yet to try it out properly as it's still running in.

Here are a couple of pics.

Very nice S come on give us some more photos! Do you race the '89 van dieman yourself.
You can't beat formula ford 1600 racing but classic S racing comes a close second though :o

The S is 1275, and converted back to dry. I've built it for me so it's running hi-lo's, 1.5 fixed negative camber arms, mk2 steering rack and arms and the magnesium minlights (crack tested!). The engine is a Steve Harris built mildly tuned motor. Twin H4's, 275 cam, roller tipped rockers, u/l flywheel and a worked head. Built for the road, so should be tractable.

The pictures were at Dyrham Park near Bath where Bristol Motor Club are resurecting a hillclimb up the driveway that hasn't run since the 60's. It's the clubs centenary so they got a few cars from the last 100years ranging from the 1911 Gregoire to the 2011 Lotus Evora for some publicity shots.

The Van Dieman is Chris Bennetts, he uses it in the National Sprint Championship. Normally I compete against him in this Force PT (carbon tubbed hayabusa engined hillclimb single seater), however, I am having some engine woes with it so will probably just do local events this year.

Hi Simon,
What are the details of the veteran car? I don't recognize it so I'm picking it might be rare.

Hi Al,

I don't know much about it, beyond it's a 1911 Gregoire, I think it's a 16 24.

Thanks

Simon
