Shame for Jordan I think he could have kept with the Stippler Jag for the lead had he kept going, looked like a gearbox/clutch issue that put him out. The race of the day though has to be the Huff/Caine battle in A40s for third, rarely more than a foot apart, absolutely thrilling race down to the wire with fantastic car control from both and miraculously never touched. Huff's was a road car two weeks ago apparently!

Jordan had trouble with down shifts on the sighting lap and the mechanics tried to sort it on the grid. He made a great start and was over 4 seconds ahead of Stippler when he managed to dispatch the other A40s. Once Stippler was ahead he would pull out a lead which Jordan would reduce again out the back of the track.
The duel for 3rd was a race long battle with both Caine and Huff trimming the grass and bouncing off the curbs, how they managed to not exchange paint and door handles I don't know. Unlucky for Tom Kristesen. He started from the pit lane in his Ford Thunderbird and had got up behind the A40 battle only for his exhaust to finally drop down, earning him a meatball flag.

Any way, after that battle for 3rd I'm off to buy up all the old A40s before the prices go through the roof!!!!!!!

Haha - I don't think so. Must have been 1275 blocks mustn't they. and none of them were 1950s cars either were they as all were Mk2s.........

Great racing though. SO close those two! The live stream is a real bonus isn't it for those of us unable to go there.........

The Caine car runs a full monty Swiftune mill, must be 1293 or bigger surely? Don't know about Jordan's car but it's alot quicker then the others.

Meadon vs Jordan, yet another absolute thriller! Seen loads of historic racing and I just don't know how Goodwood always seems to produce races like that! .Fantastic.

I think Goodwood have a fairly generous interpretation of what was homologated in the 1950s

I think the racing at Goodwood is so close because most of the drivers are pros or semi-pro. Also the track is fast and flowing, the only real slow bit being the end of lap chicane.
All of the races this weekend have had some close battles, an excellent weekends entertainment.

By the way, the Jordan car is a 1293.

Huff and Caine were using 1293 Swiftune engines - I was chatting to Nick Swift in the assembly area before the start. Not sure what brand of motor that the Jordans were running.

TK in the T-Bird was even more impressive when you consider that he had never driven it before the parade lap !
The clutch exploded as it left the assembly area on Friday morning so that car only ever did a slow lap behind a recovery truck before the race.
