Does anyone know if a 1071, Austin Cooper S, registration number HPF 506C survives? It was grey with a white roof and full length Webasto sunroof.

I've just had lunch with the guy that owned it in the 1960's. He is the uncle of a school friend from some 45 years ago and when my friend's father used to take us water skiing with his uncle, our preference was always to travel in the Cooper S rather than his father's Mk1 Lotus Cortina.

Under the passenger dash panel, it had a 45 disc player. Absolutely useless, as when playing the latest Beatles' tracks or whatever, 200 yds up the road and the stiff Mini suspension made the disc jump repeatedly. However, the Lucas continental driving mirror set - designed to allow the driver to see oncoming traffic when driving on the continent - was put to great effect by the owner allowing overtaking around the outside of left hand bends through use of these mirrors on Britain's then less crowded roads. He has just generously presented me with them from that car!

I am sure the influence of this car spurned my interest in motors.

doesnt show up on the DVLA site, so has never had a V5C, so is either scrapped or has been asleep in a garage since the late 1970's
