I don't look in the off topic section that much, but that was probably because the amount of you tube links that had been posted, there is a danger that putting off topic posts in general chat may dilute that section, which I like as it is :)

Off topic...mmmmm

I guess if we can post odd ball stuff in the 'General' section themn nothing is lost, if it saves Mark work lets do it.

I will start with something really off topic to start the ball rolling, posted in the General section.

Abuse me if I have overstepped the 'mark'

If it makes it easier for you ? then delete it, I always press "view new posts" when I log on, and read all that looks interesting

I am the same, I just look at new posts to see what everyone is talking about. I don't pay much attention to what area the posts are in.
I thought about bunging a load of my pics in the picture section, but I already post enough of them every where else any way.

Mark,

I am a bit confused about what you are proposing to do.

Are you saying to remove the OT section and let people post OT stuff in "General" section?
I would not be in favor of this because I'm not interested in reading about Margaret Thatcher on the Mk1 forum.

If you are saying just remove the OT section, then cool, i don't go there anyway because there are ten quadrillion other websites out there for other stuff.

I think I agree with KA2S4 on this.

One other tiny thing - is the Historic Racing section meant to be for current racing events or about racing cars and events from the past? Or both.

Being far from the action I don't normally look at it - but there seems to be the odd interesting post about period stuff there.

Cheers

Having said that, if it provides an outlet for those who can't resist posting pointless youtube links or right-wing political commentary then it has a place. I don't bother to look in there anymore.

So left-wing socialist commentary is OK then? ;)

Doesn't seem to be too much risk of that. :D

Thanks for all the input.

I gather that a few people like it, but most members never go there.

I guess the easiest thing is to leave things as they are.

Things will remain the same.

The youtube thing was nowt to do with the sections on the forum, it was down to one former member who couldn't resist posting them everywhere. He was warned a number of times in the end I had to ban him.

I wondered what had happened to ox / bull whatever. Whilst 90% of his posts were irritatingly OT, he did on occasion make a decent point.

Ah well, plenty warnings were given, so he's the author of his own downfall.
