I think everyone is quick to bash Mini Sport, I've never had any issues and I know for a fact that Chris Harper says that if 'anyone' has a problem with them then they should get in touch with him and he will do his best to sort it.

Minispares have a member of staff on here defending them (which has been seen on the recent Rosepetal threads) but Mini Sport don't... I don't really think its fair. Minispares must have at least one member of staff on each of the main forums highlighting issues, I have only seen one member of Mini Sport appear on a forum defend themselves and that was Chris Harper himself.

Tom the only reason I started this thread was to find out if other Mini parts suppliers practice the same sales policy of taking money for none stocked items.
Taking people's cash whether by mistake or not and not delivering or making any effort to contact the customer to explain delivery isn't possible for a month or so just isn't good policy and I feel something worth flagging up. I'm glad you've enjoyed a decent service from them Tom, I'm sure others have and I'd also like to point out the rolling road facility there also seems to have a good reputation .
Their website is probably the reason these problems happen as any unstocked item should be very clearly labelled 'out of stock' which isn't the case. However if you hover over the 'to order' button to one side of the item (just tried this) it will then flash up 'out of stock' which I completely missed when I bought the item. In my first post I did ask whether other companies practiced a similar policy of taking money (which it seems they don't) so I am interested in other's experiences, not just at this company and in the interest of fairness I've retitled this thread. As I say it does look like a website issue.

I would like to make it ABSOLUTELY CLEAR that I personally & MK1 Perf Cons in general hold absolutely NO ALLEGIANCE whatsoever to any particular Mini parts supplier and those members on here who I have had to contact in the past regarding what I consider to be unfair comment or criticism of VARIOUS suppliers can vouch for the fact that I (& my site) try to remain impartial. For example I will invariably refer to "The usual suspects" when attempting to recommend suppliers when a part is available from many different sources.

Rich (Guru) does work for Minispares & is coincidentally a very good friend of mine and as such does to some extent promote the products supplied by his employer, he is however also one of the most helpful & knowledgeable members on here & his input would be missed if it went just because he worked for MS. Personally speaking I feel that there was a lot of ill considered comments made on the recent rosepetal thread that Tom refers to NO BOTH PARTS & I think both parties would accept that I did what I could to act as an independent referee.

I consider "FAIR" criticism of the type at the beginning of this thread to be totally acceptable as are the comments from ORX999 & Tom promoting Minisport. All fair comment & criticism has always been welcome here. All I ask is that no one makes any comment that they would not make face to face!

The MK1 forum has been a consistently friendly & respectful one, I for one hope & expect it to remain so!

Please can ALL members please try to bear the above in mind.

To be fair Tom I think you've actually answered the question in your post.
'Minispares have someone on here defending them' and 'The only time someone from Minisport was on a forum was Chris Harper'....it perhaps points to either one supplier instructing staff to go nowhere near forums (and that does happen) or one supplier has more 'enthusiasts' working there???

In fairness when I had my issues I went straight to Chris and he was great, however how many times should he get involved...

Anyway at least I now know where the cages are at.. :D

Yeah mainly Poland !

I think this thread's been civilised despite differing opinions, we should all be able to swap experiences and some opinion without any handbags. Tom may swing his manbag at me though !

One thing that does seperate this forum above the kiddy ones is the ability to differ in opinion without toys being thrown from prams (ok except 'Rosepetalgate') and I'm all for that. Oh and the spelling's slightly better and members don't call each other 'M8'. :x
