HSCC Donington - 20th March 2011
The entry list has been published.
http://www.hscc.org.uk/resources/Provis ... 202011.pdf
A good entry with 33 Cars in total and 7 Mini's - I believe that's 1 short of a full grid if I'm not mistaken !

Tim,
From what I understand you have 2 classes, Class D to the HRSR Regulations (essentially Short Stroke Engine + Weber + Weight (inc Driver) = 720KG) and also an Appendix K class.
Looking at the entry I would hazard a guess there were 3 Class D Cars and 4 Appendix K cars - but there's a lot of guess work involved in there !!!
Mr Harber or Andy Harrison would probably be able to shed more light on it than me as I have only spectated at the events and not competed in and amongst.
Cheers,
Yorkie 'S'

Thanks Yorks.
I was thinking about having a play for that last place on the grid. But if it's not App K, I'll wait til Masters' at Snetterton, even though I not that keen on travelling and racing there.

Re: HSCC Donington - 20th March 2011
It's probably 80% HRSR Regs Cars and 20% Appendix K Cars on balance.
I would love to race at Snetterton on the new 300 circuit ths year, it looks quite interesting ! I wouldn't have though it too bad to get to from where you are ?

Yes, Yorkie is about right on HSCC. Cost is cheaper but you only generally get a 20min race, but if it all goes wrong, youv'e not so out of pocket.
Cadwell Park on 24-25 April is £295 for two 20 minute races . Silverstone International on 14-15 May on the new GP track is £475 for 40 mins , which is a teensy bit less than U2TCC at Silverstone Classic , so again it's the peasants choice
HSCC is more a single seater club , which you can see reflected in the entry for next Sunday so you don't get the mixed sports,GT and touring cars and the swish surroundings, but they do go to most of the posh tracks. I'm seeing how it goes this year
My car is still not got it's HTP papers so I'm still in class D, so it's unlikely I will be able to get near the proper short stroke brigade but I had really good race last time on the club track at Silverstone

Tim
the entry fee for Silverstone is actually £831.25 if you pay before April 15th! Where have I gone wrong?
If you enter the entire U2TCseason of 6 races however, you do get 1 race entry FOC. In retrospect I would have said the premium for being at the Classic is a bit high at £356.25 over the cost of the race on 14-15th May. If only I'd looked!

Re: HSCC Donington - 20th March 2011
Interesting day ; nice to see such a good turnout and nice to be back at Donington - it's so much more fun than Sillystone.
Roger has a new Swifty motor which sounds quite different so we've been guessing which crank it has. He was certainly in a league of his own performance wise. Nice to see Mike Smith back after illness concerns kept him out at the end of last year. We were right one end of the paddock and most of the others were at the other so I didn't see pretty well all the others as I was with Paul Stanworth who managed to do a head gasket in practice and distributor cap in the race and I had to hold his hand to help him decide what to break next (This was the Goodwood car that lasted one lap)
We've been playing with variations of carbs as I'm allowed to in Class D. We tried a strange SU which seemed to give more power than anything else but it fluffed a fair bit in practice so we put the H4's back on for the race. I had some braking and handling issues but still kept it on the island and had a mainly uneventful race. The new chicane has gravel on the one side so you can't cut it, and dutifully a Lotus Cortina was beached there after two laps. Mike Smith oblingingly outbraked himself going into it one time and had to do an emergency loop to get back on the track allowing me past but I could'nt stay with him

Re: HSCC Donington - 20th March 2011
Not a bad day at Donington, but the spectator facilities and infield have suffered due to the GP attempt. Hopefully they will improve again as the year goes on. I spent the morning half way down the hill at Craner, had an amble around the paddock at lunch, quick chat with Tim about twin choke SUs, and then spent the afternoon at the chicane.
As usual I uploaded a bunch of pictures onto photobucket

I've only loaded up stuff from the Touring Car race, the others will be loaded later in the week.
Here's a few shots from practice...
...and here's some from the race
