Brands Mini Festival Historic Races 2017

Post by su_mark »

Hi all. Hope I'm allowed to write all this on here.....

Confirmed for 2017, Historics will once more grace the tarmac at Brands Mini Fest. However......

..... a new twist will see someone else promoting the races...... me. (Well, I suppose I should say SU Carburetters).

'The SU Carburetters Cup' will be a 45min race split over three 15 minute heats. Up to three drivers can compete in the same car, the winning car being the one with the fastest amalgamated time from the three heats.

To my knowledge, This will be the only Historic race at the fest this year as the Sanwa Trophy will not be run.

Essentially, Nick and the Swiftune team wanted (deservedly) a break and against my better judgement I decided to give it a go. Entry forms and regulations are available for anyone interested, just email my missus, rowena@burlen.co.uk and she'll send them on.

Plan is to offer some hospitality but not quite got that sorted yet, but should be a good laugh, which in my mind is half the point of doing this.

Looking forward to it!

Hopefully the tyres should just about last for 15 laps. The format should produce some interesting racing.

Yes, the hope is that by introducing a third heat and shortening each by 5 minutes (used to be 2x 20min races), there will be less opportunity for the quicker cars to spread out and more opportunity for different results in each race especially if more than one driver is using the car. It should have more of a 'sprint' race feel to it, which is always great for spectators and should keep the drivers on their toes, so to speak!

Well done for taking this on Mark!

It's a heck of a lot of effort, but I am sure it will be a great weekend.

I hope to see you down there.
