Rear subframe trunnions/mounts - have I got this right?

I'm just test fitting all the rear subframe hardware before I fit it up to the car, and I wanted to check and see if I had the front trunnions put together properly. Does the rubber bushing just sit up flush against the subframe like this...

That is, I must say a very impressive looking trunion, all the ones I have seen are cast / forged.

and as a MK1(?), should have different height bolt bosses for the mounting bolts. But very nice all the same.

Yeah, the original subframe had different size bolts and an "L" shaped trunnion (for lack of a better description). However, I couldn't find any replacements for my rusty old ones, so went with the full square type trunnion. It's mostly hidden, so I don't mind.

Shouldn't the shoulder of the bush be on the inside?

Good point vegard, the large shoulder of the bush should be on the inside.

To be strictly accurate the large bush should be on each side as the MK1 bush came in 2 parts, leaving a large rubber washer on both sides.

They don't seem to sell the two-part ones anymore...everything is for the newer style (at least in the full rebuild kits).

Thanks for the points about the shoulder being on the side...I knew something was not right about how the bushing was sitting against the subframe. mk1-forum comes to the rescue again!

So I flipped the bushing over, and it definitely doesn't go this way (with the rubber shoulder on the inside) because then the trunnion is free to slide off the end. I guess the original design with two rubber shoulders would be better.

Second question...how tight do I do up the pin? I tried tightening it up last night, but it seems to just crush and distort the rubber without hitting any hard stop. Couldn't find a torque setting listed.

I would think that when this is bolted to the body, the trunnion design is not the problem if it slides off
