Trailers

Post by Pete »

I'm considering selling my trusty 4wheel Brian James Clubman trailer (solid bed) to buy a smaller lighter trailer if possible. Bit of a stuggle lugging it around as it's no lightweight and my back's not getting any better!

So the question is what's the best lightweight trailer I can squeeze a Mini onto? Anyone using one of these "Smartcar" type trailers?

I have a Brian James Micro-Max.

It tows very nicely and fits a Mini perfectly (9ft long bed). The doors of the Mini clear the arches perfectly and the way the ramps work makes loading really quick and easy. It can be done without being hitched up and can still be moved around easily as it's quite light. Will fit into a standard size garage too!

I fitted Caravan Movers to my 4 wheel car trailer ( BJ minno max).. took a bit of effort to make up suitable adaptor plates to secure the Movers to the trailer chassis.. now 3 years fitted with no problems... just the regular need to clean off the mud & WD40 the Mover sliders.
Movers are a fantastic feature when you hook up or take off the car trailer on your own.
I never push my trailer & always use the movers with the remote control .
BUT i have 13 inch trailer wheels.. not sure if Caravan Movers would work with 12inch trailer wheels?

I was going to buy one of these but was worried about the wheel arch height. The bottom of a race Mini door doesn't allow for much clearance! Getting in and out of a caged Mini is hard enough without having to squeeze through a small door opening!
