Regulator in wrong place to start with for an S

Suspect its a 1300GT engine as can't see breather canister from tappet chest cover but it has one on the transfer case :?

Would have to say this is a Std Cooper....so many things are all wrong for an S.
The body looks 63ish...even has the old style handbrake cables.
Vacuum advance distributor on an S engine!!! Hardy spicer drive shafts!!!!...many more!
We see lots of cars over here that are classified as a Cooper S....$35K is way too much even for a standard Cooper in that condition. Would be interesting to see the VIN/Heritage certificate.
Once again...Caveat emptor

Chassis number is listed in the page as CA257L-328915. As you say standard Austin LHD Cooper 997?

I messaged him within 2 hours of the auction starting telling him he had a '63 997 with a mk2 S speedo and 1275 S engine, but he didn't change his description. Looks like the remains of a mk2 S we're put onto/into this 997

Well I'm not sure about the car being honest but the seller seems to be. ended unsold today with this in question box:-
Do you have a readable picture of the vin on the radiator shroud? Do you have an engine number? Thanks, John Dec-29-16
A: I am aware of the issue. I am checking it and may be forced to end the auction until it is all sorted. I am not a mini Guy more an Alfa Guy and I starting to find out things that I did not know how to approach. Thank you for the insight

Can't check now.... but I'm pretty sure that while the heading said 1963, the actual detailed description described it as a 65.... The quoted chassis number is much later then my 63....

Love the paperwork, totally original car and she advertised it for spares or repair! You don't find many like that you're right Richard!

It's amazing how all these old Minis are still coming out of the wood work.

That's a nice honest car and a nice honest description, the seller will be glad they didn't scrap it when the bidding ends.

Looks like "our man from torquay" aka beyondbeingnormal then revised to rareminibits.

No, it's not, it's far too honest a description.
