PS Had a quick look on the interweb. The Jamaican is a kit car made by a company called Fibrefab, based in Santa Clara, California. Originally they were sold to fit MGA, Austin Healey and Triumph TR3 & 4 chassis.

a garage full, and a bmc bus lurking in the back ground - I wish I had got a few photos of my car in the back...

couple of reprobates in the photo, one is Flanagan junior, the other might be petes dad......

at Donington you are formed up on the old Melbourne loop, so no green flag lap, its straight out, pointed to your grid place, two yellow boards and BANG red lights, no lights. GO! I had a monster start, no wheel spin, no bog, I took two cars before I had even got across the line.

had a great race with the guy in the blue alfa

My Lotus Elite (33 JOY) was used for the tracking shots at the Silverstone Classic test day in April. Apart from the antics caught on camera, Ant managed to spin a handful of times whilst out on his own in other sessions - something which is actually quite tricky to do in such a well balanced car.

He was up against it at the Donington race, he is inexperienced, was nervous and just HAD to get the car to the finish undamaged for the sake of the programme which had already been delayed as a result of the Silverstone Classic non-finish. But the car's biggest problem is its weight. As an early prototype car it was (I understand) the one used to produce the production moulds and as a consequence has very thick panels with plenty of filler to get a good finish. Ant also chose to install the Forth Road Bridge as a roll cage - which did nothing for the cause. Forget Chapman's mantra of 'simplicate and add lightness', this car headed off in the opposite direction. As a point of reference, when I weighed the car I found that it was 250kg heavier than my Elite(!); ie like carrying around 3 lardy blokes as passengers with you.

But it is pretty and, with its history, will I guess get invites to all the best events.

I too watched with interest, I wish I could fix a car in that sort of time   33 JOY looked much sharper, as she should, and I generously put the poor handling of the "Green car" down to initial set up problems, heavy or not would have no effect whatsoever on Colin's descision to sell it on. I saw my first Elite in 1962 and was so fortunate to be at le Mans in '63 with my godfather when he won in car 39, proving that a" truly lightweight" car can be easily dug out of the sand with a miraculously appearing shovel
Happy days

Bizarrely I was at a 'do' at the local athletic club on Saturday night and the chap who bought the Elite, Ian, was there and had a good chat as I hadn't seen him for quite a number of years.

The Lotus Elite is one of my all time favourite cars and such a simple shape that does the trick.

Not sure that he will be impressed if he realises how much weight its carrying, 250kg is a big extra to carry for a small car.

The car did look pretty when we saw it a Donington.

By the way, nice to see the production company still like to use poetic licence. I didn't know October was only 4 weeks after July, the Tourist Trophy took place at Silverstone etc etc.
