Goodwood 75th MM Weslake Cup (Paddock Pics Added)
Goodwood have just announced the events/races that are included in next years Members Meeting. A new event is the Weslake Cup, named after Harry Weslake, which is for A-Series engine Sports and GT cars that raced between 1958 and 1966.
I guess Pete will be furiously clearing his garage, and diary, for mid-March.
Details can be found here

For those budding racers I have the ideal car for this.
1966 Mk1 Marcos, never road registered only race, sprinted & hillclimbed, Prescott '67/'68, last used in anger Coppa Constantini trophy at Thruxton 1968/9.

Re: Goodwood 75th Members Meeting Weslake Cup
Having the right car is only the first step, it's getting invitation to race that's the difficult bit, all 3 Goodwood events are world class so they can pick and choose what they want to run, I have a car that would be suitable but it would have to be completely taken apart and rebuilt to make it safe and quick enough to race, then be taken apart again to re-install all the original parts, that's not going to happen (unless my 6 numbers come up )

What a stonkin idea this is whether a Unipower gets an entry or not! Ogle, Deepy, Jem, Marcos! Even that DART replica will probably get a run despite zero race history. Mines the oldest racing Unipower as far as I know so who knows? Custom Cages here we come! And what about the Minisprint and Broadspeed GT???

Pete,
That would be great to see the Unipower out there, but I bet Gerry has already signed up for this event tho, he's been wanting to do this sort of thing for a while hasn't he
Well If they run the same class at the revival, and your looking for another driver to join you, Theres this teenager lad at work. Hes got one of those odd long foreign surnames.
Anyway he's supposed to be quite handy in a car, good defensively aswell,
I can ask young Max if he'd like to be your second driver,

Yes Stu I think Gerry may have plans but I wouldn't know. As far as I'm aware mine's the only 66 built racer surviving. I wonder if Minisprint or Broadspeed GT are eligible?

Apparently the entry list is virtually full already despite the announcement of the race only being last week?!

I wonder whether they would invite an A Series Lotus 7?

If they don't, it's their loss!
Since the 1st revival I've said there should be sevens (S1 &2) running in the Madgwick trophy along with Chevron B1s, The Coldwell mink (obviously!) etc, as they were the mainstay of club racing scene.
As an aside, do you still have 33 JOY, and if so, have you fixed the door catch after it's mishap on TV the other night?

Re: Goodwood 75th Members Meeting Weslake Cup
Nothing ventured, nothing gained - I think I will enquire whether a Lotus Seven would be welcome in this race.
I have owned my Elite for a very long time and can't imagine any circumstances that would lead me to want to sell it. However it wasn't very helpful when my wife woke up and took notice of the hammer price of the For the Love of Cars Elite... And the door catch has now been fixed!

That's the point you go "it's all a dream dear, it's all a dream....."
Or your race car (let's call it 'Pandora', for arguments sake ) becomes a kitchen and bathroom.
Ah well.

A little bird tells me there's definately a few Mini derivatives in this race. I'll update as I find out more.
