create a ringer of a car that never existed
How can it be a ringer of a car that never existed?

I think the auction house speak for similar vehicles these days is 'evocation'
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.

Mk3 Cooper S with 1275 GT DNA :o

And from the advert...

Looks: This car is an amazing time capsule. While it had a respray long ago, it was never completely restored or would have needed restoration. Whatever service or repair should have been done, was done. The paint still is shiny,- Only some areas show a little patina or the odd ding, scrape and paint touch up. The underbody has not been welded. No rust there and no damage.

Definitely no damage to the car, Nick definitely didn't put it through a wall, and we definitely didn't rebuild it from the condition you see in that picture

Quote........Item Specifics:
“The body work has a few very minor areas that need a little attention to the front around the lights and also front and rear bumper. Small part on driver’s side door at the very bottom has a small defect along with a small chip on the bonnet. Rear Passenger arch needs a very thin gap filling. Driver’s side door card has a water mark on the leather trim however the sheer beauty of the car makes these minor bits almost invisible.” (£7,995)

I guess the south Africans were very much ahead of the UK if they were fitting alternators in 59? :?: :?: :?:

Oh come on Rich, you know some people restore the steering wheel and door trims first, then just build the rest of the car wrong.

You take it apart, put it on shelves, when you take it down a gain, you forget which side was the floor and which was the roof....... It's easily done!

Is this not the car that was on display last year for restoration?

The estate 'MK1' must be one of the proposed MK1 estate Heritage shells....
It was a Clubman estate later than 1974 and now has round nose wings. Square tunnel, internal door hinges, late dash rail....

What is left of that Pick up? A few rather tatty outer panels it would appear. The front bulkhead is a Frankensteinian monster...

This looks a far better bet to restore:
