Re: 2016 Mini Cooper Register Northumberland Borders Rally
Finals are now up on the rally website. We'll also take a late entry if anyone does fancy a run out after all.

Also if you fancy a day out, Niall still needs marshals. You'll get a free buffet at the finish for your time.
Re: 2016 Mini Cooper Register Northumberland Borders Rally
Thought I'd be all set for tomorrow by now, but no!
After being badgered by Niall to fit some spot lights I went ahead and fitted some.
About 4pm this afternoon I had just finished fitting them so it was time to test. Puts key in ignition and nothing. So I disconnected the feeds I had just put in, still nothing. Then attached jump lead from the service barge, electrics working .
Oh well the battery must have decided to fail so I go and get a new one. New one fitted, lights all connected up, key in ignition, engine starts, lights all working.
Tie all the wiring up, refit grille, tighten every thing up, done. Just before I close the garage and go back home I thought I'd check everything is OK. Key in ignition, engine starts, 10 seconds later engine stops and no electrics
Total an utter electrical failure, nothing, not even a flicker of an oil light or alternator light.
I'll go back in the morning and see what the score is, but it looks like I might be taking pictures instead (if I am not in too much of a foul mood).

Take the car up to the start Stu, I'm sure the lads will find the fault in time for you to start? The drivers have feck all else to do anyway whilst the nav does all the work plotting the route!

I know I came last Steve!
We got so lost we gave up and went to the pub!
Had lots of fun though and got the car very dirty.
Will deffo have another go even though it was the other end of the country and nearly 900 miles over the weekend!
My mates Dane & Joe won the Tynedale in the blue GT - Well done to them!
Many thanks to Niall and the organising team. It is a great event.

Re: 2016 Mini Cooper Register Northumberland Borders Rally
I did not go in the end. After getting annoyed on Friday, I went back on Saturday morning and the car ran without me finding a fault. As I'm not in the habit of driving cars with intermittent faults, I did not fancy the car going dark in the middle of nowhere. So I closed the garage door and have not been back since. When I can be bothered I will take another look at all the connections, but I will be replacing both the earth and main cables from the battery.

Results breakdown now up on the website, for those of you that haven't seen them elsewhere.

Congratulations to Graeme and Ali on another great win - their fourth in a row. At the halfway point, they were tied with the Humphreys with (unbelievably) exactly the same test time after nine tests but only dropped a minute on the evening leg to take the victory. Well done to all the other award winners too, particularly Dane and Joe who took Novice title on the Tynedale with their first ever go at rallying - excellent stuff!
Big thanks to everyone else that turned up on the day to help out and to our sponsors YBracing and Vallum.
Niall, SoM.
