'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
My brother needs some 'prune' coloured 1275GT 'sidewinder' stripes for an early bronze yellow 1275GT restoration.
Somerfords list them as sold out.....any ideas for alternative supplier?

Got my silver ones from here and was very happy with them:

who are also:

(first ones I got from somewhere else were way off with the font).

Re: 'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
I can get the sidewinder stripes made up in either the Mauve or Violet below......any thoughts on which is closest to 'Prune' as BL intended on a Bronze Yellow 1275GT?
Re: 'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
Neither of those are close.
The Prune stripes look like a very dark purplish brown, here are the painted one on Tanya Field car
and here's a set in the sun at Castle Coombe on a one previous owner GT, door looks original, A-panels does not.
PS Both these early cars had painted stripes.

The stripes on the above A panel are stickers.
The prune colour is nearly black- very dark. Heres the origional painted stripes on my GT

I had one in Black Tulip with red stripes and one in Bronze Yellow with a very pale pink colour stripes which I think was Plum in the description....

Unfortunately can't seem to find anything near the correct 'Prune' colour available so he is going to go with 'Black'.

Wonder if any of the stripe supplier would do you and 'inverse' decal, that you could then use as a mask and paint the stripes? He could get a very close colour match then.

Re: 'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
Good idea.....but it seems hard to find out exactly what shade the original colour was even from photos in order to find a modern equivalent in vinyl or paint......and I guess the few cars with original stripes have faded somewhat since they left the factory back in the early 1970's?

Re: 'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
Any thoughts on Avery 957 Cobalt Blue which is available in vinyl stripes to special order......perhaps it would look better than black?
Re: 'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
Later Bronze yellow cars with a navy interior had blue stripes

If you are still trying to get close to Prune I would look at burgundy, purple/reds or dark browns

Re: 'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
Out of curiosity (apologies for going away from the thread slightly), but I notice that the Blaze cars should have white stripes. I've seen some Blaze cars with gold or black stripes. I know this could be incorrectly done in a restoration but have seen what look like original publications with gold and black stripes. Just being nosey, but should Blaze GTs only have white stripes??

Are you sure those cars with gold stripes are not Vermilion
This document also confirms only white for Blaze cars

Re: 'Prune' 1275GT Stripes?
My brother had to do a special min. order of 3 sets of 'Prune' 1275GT stripes in the end, they look really good to me on the car with bronze yellow, much better than black, so if anyone would like to buy a spare set pm me.

Here are a couple of pairs of NOS vinyl stripes in red , I have had these in a box since the mid 70s ,Made by 3 M Scotch, Even instructions how to fit also, I don't know if these would be any good after all these years but would look good taped to the garage wall i guess , How they fitted was you used the backing as a guide , It fitted right along the seam and it was curved to go up the arches , You can just see the curve on the photo, Hope this helps .
Blaze cars did have the dark blue stripes also , I had one on a J plate in the early 70s .
