A brief recollection.....
when Nick Tandy (outright Le Mans winner 2015) gave up Mini racing in 2005, he brimmed all the spares (odd bits of suspension, engine parts, casings, etc...) he had into an old shell with its doors shut and sent it for scrap for 28 quid !

the way he drove in his last season they would have probably all been smashed up and damaged.......

one of my customers (now sadly passed away :( ) got so sick of his racing mini that he dragged 20 years of trophy's out of his loft and filled the car to the level of the windows and weighed it in for scrap.

that qty of trophy's was a lot of success (or 'money wasted' as he described it.....)

Most of 'em do, but you're right Steve it won't come as cheap as before! I reckon about twenty odd Mk1s have come over here from the U.S in the last couple of years! mainly to members of this forum! I know of half a dozen in the last couple of months! Butchered flatpack Ss from the UK are still pretty poor value for money compared to original, usually unbutchered, sometimes rust free U.S cars I think.

Aye, I got to see a very nice one, albeit in a dubious colour, not long back.

The last few flatpacks on ebay have been shockers, including that so called 1071 in Donny that hit £25k and dropped back to £12k, presumably after it was sussed on forums etc then bids withdrawn.

Yes a very nice original S 65 in the US. I would have bid $20k, but it's now at $30k - so the market remains strong.

Buy it. It's a cracker and deserves to stay in the USA.
LHD cars over here are just a massive compromise IMO
It's getting like Healeys. What's the point you're trying to get a retro experience and the feckin steering wheels' on the wrong side. (Am I the only one ?) So leave it where it is.

Not that difficult to swap an early Mini to RHD though compared to some other classic cars?

You're supposed to leave the thing alone and drive it,wasn't that the point ?

Totally get that. Ive bought three from the U.S now but they've all been RHD originally UK registered. I don't think it's that easy for us in the UK who hanker for an untouched proper car like that to understand how U.S buyers value cars like this, or any classic cars for that matter. More of a buyers market over there I assume, as with all those super original Westy VW Campers, so they appear undervalued to us and lots end up in the UK. I know it's going back abit but when I bought my old 'MEG' there were very few U.S buyers in the frame.
I think the other thing is that because the vast majority of our surviving Mk1 Ss are flatpacks we will always put extra value on those original cars, where as in the U.S it's not that uncommon to find them so maybe a restored car is the preference.

Ironically we often get cars that are perfectly detailed part number perfect restos that are essentially built from a logbook and over there you'll see modified Mk1s running around with custom interiors, big wheels and loud paint jobs but under the skin there's actually a Mk1 S! Just like here in the 70s!

Answer to above.

Personally I would say, No they aren't, but as it's on ebay there is an outside chance that some knob will pay that much.

I agree with Mark, on eBay it will likely go for that. When I needed one I threw down some bids but they were going for stupid money, especially if you have the bracket. Luckily Steve bailed me out with a very nice one.

The wingard pump appears to be early metal bodied one and complete with the wingard front label so not easy to find, I can see it fetching that price easily to someone who needs it, just a bit expensive for spare stock.
