Re: MK1 mInI Saloon : 1962 restoration project.
Thought I would share some updates on the mini..
Well the car is home (delay due to 4 foot of snow.....
Looked out the window this morning and more snow. Looks like i did it just in time.
Now i said i was going to take my time but.... interior in..... roof lining in..... wiring loom in....... rear lights in....... and its not even lunch time. ooops
Next problem… which wheels.
list of parts needed is sizable so mini spare order coming up.........

That's looking fantastic! The best part is putting all the shiny bits back on...and hearing it strike up for the first time!!

Re: MK1 mInI Saloon : 1962 restoration project.
couple of questions arising from the re build.
Push button starter wires......... One from teh battery one to the starter and i THINK... there is ont to the control box is that right????? Anyone?????
The hand brake cables how do the springs retain into the cables Are they washers or Bolts?
How do I get number plates( not got the registration document yet)
Anyone got a photo of their rediator? can't seam to get it fitting properly.......( seams to compact...)
Where does the Screen wash pipe get routed through? bottle is mounted on the bulk head
Anyone know what presure the fuel pump should run for an 850cc?

Oh and I have been working on the radiator and heater. The top of the block( to the Left of the rocker cover) has a blanking plate on it Where does the other take off hose (one that comes out the cylinder head) go???
and which one is which the top of the matrix to the radiator side or the bottom to the radiator?

Here's a thread with the wiring question.
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1234
Which h/brake cable springs do you mean, the rear hub ones or the handbrake springs.?

Re: MK1 mInI Saloon : 1962 restoration project.
thanks for the link thats clarified that one.
yeah i mean the handbrake leaver side. from the magazines i have i can't see if it is a washer retaining the springs or a bolt..... don't suppose it'll make much difference but want to keep it close to original....
my radiator brackets........
engine side.....gosh its a snugg fit......
hand brake springs. i have the oval bolts but no lockers yet.....
any idea which hose should go into the top of the heAter matrix anD what you supposed to do if the cylinder head water feed is blocked off (apart from get a different one (bandit i hear you thinking cheaky comments))
And it is an electric fuel pump i am searching for my local motor factors can't find sodd all about the old school classic cars pressure but they can tell you every single bolt on a 2011 motor................ grrr where all the old school knowledge gone........( or am i the old fart now)

Re: MK1 mInI Saloon : 1962 restoration project.
You need to fit the bottom half of the cowl with bracket to the car, then fit the radiator, then fit the top half - expect scraped knuckles!
For the heater - take the blanking plate off and fit a heater tap. Take feed from here to top of heater, then bottom of heater to bottom hose.
Simples

This link might help you with what you are looking for. Pump pressures are near the bottom of the page.

I notice in your engine bay picture you have the brake and clutch master cylinders the wrong way round. ie the caps go to the back.
The way you have them looks like the most obvious way I must admit.

Looks like you have a Cooper & S bottom radiator bracket on the bottom part of the cowl.

Well spotted on the caps. I had just laid them down to get the sizes for the brake pipes.
Cooper s Radiator bracket. enough to skin my knuckles big time.
