70 Years of Cooper at Prescott Hill Climb - Sat 30 July
On Saturday 30th July there will be a Bugatti Owners Club meeting run under National B regulations. The event website is misleading as it focuses on Cooper Car Club 500's and totally omits that it is DEWS Championship round as well. George Shackleton of the Cooper Car Club has asked for
Mini Coopers to attend. Michael Cooper will be at the event with the Jackie Stewart Cooper. There are a few regular Mini competitors who take part in the Bugatti Owners Championship. I have been asked by George to organise Mini Coopers for a static display but why stop there? During my research I discovered that the BBC held an event on 1st February 1964 after Paddy's win so thought that it might be fun to recreate that event with suitable Mini Coopers. Response has been good so far but I thought some of you might like to come along to this meeting to compete or even pose with suitable cars.
The Members day is a very friendly event and you will all be made very welcome. I am meeting with the Prescott Competition Secretary in June to discuss the way forward and will ask the question if temporary membership of the BOC is possible if you want to compete.
The date does clash with Silverstone Classic but why not make a weekend of it and attend both events.
If you fancy coming to the event please send me a pm. The advertised ticket price for the event is £12 but when I last organised an event at the hill I was able to get a discount.
I look forward to a full message box with details of interesting cars.
Prescott is close to the Tewkesbury junction of the M5.
Thanks.

Re: 70 Years of Cooper at Prescott Hill Climb - Sat 30 July
This weekend is La Vie event at Prescott and I am going to try and sort out the competition side as well as the display with George Shackleton of the Cooper Car Club, (Cooper race & sports cars). It's a National B event and there will definitely be a class for Minis/Coopers. Anyone interested in taking part - 0 mph or 0-????. It is also a round of the DEWS Championship.
If you are interested please send me a pm as the Prescott organisation are keen to get as many Mini Coopers/competitors as they can fit in.
It's a great venue and I do realise it is a Saturday but your support would be appreciated.
Thanks.

We have a fantastic selection of Coopers and Mini Coopers committed to this event, there is space for many more!
Please contact Cliff for further details - display or competitive runs on the hill.
We look forward to relaxed event, with some great Mini Coopers and Coopers celebrating this significant milestone.
George.

I for one would be very interested in doing this one, probably as a shared drive with Rich. I am sure there must be more! Come on, anyone interested in a good weekend at a great venue?

Re: 70 Years of Cooper at Prescott Hill Climb - Sat 30 July
Hi, I have been speaking to Cliff about this one & it looks like an excellent event at a sensible price. Only £110 for eligible club members & an extra £10 for day membership for non members. THIS IS CHEAP!
CLIFFS Message as follows.. . . . . .
Re: 70 Years of Cooper at Prescott Hill Climb - Sat 30 July
I had a very positive meeting with Prescott this morning. They are very keen to get more Minis competing and are offering day membership of the Bugatti Owners Club for £10 on top of entry fee of £110. Unfortunately the earlier confusion as to class structure and DEWS.
I quote from comp sec "we have now created a class on our database called ‘Invited Minis incorporating DEWS Speed Championship’ this is Class 10. As per the SR’s it is for members of the Bugatti Owners Club, the 500 Owners Association, BARC and the Cooper Car Club, the cost to enter is £110. For any members in the DEWS Speed Championship whom are not members of any of these clubs then the cost to enter will be £120 which includes Day Membership."
Entry form attached.
The final closing date for entries is 12th July.
Competitors are able to arrive from 9am on Friday and camp on site but not on the Saturday night.
Any queries regarding eligibility should be directed to the event scrutineers -
CONTACT DETAILS DELETED AT REQUEST OF SCRUTINEER
This looks like it could be an excellent event & I would urge anyone who fancies taking part in this very special celebration to apply. I for one will be there, despite the distance involved.

Re: 70 Years of Cooper at Prescott Hill Climb - Sat 30 July
Thanks Mark.
What I forgot to add was that if anyone wants to spectate and park up with other Minis please book advance tickets from Prescott website (£12 per adult) and then send e-mail to Stuart@bugatti.co.uk with details of Mini, ticket conf no PHC*** and request for Mini Orchard Car Park pass.

Re: 70 Years of Cooper at Prescott Hill Climb - Sat 30 July
Competition entry list now closed. Lots of display cars in Paddock plus many spectators' cars in Orchard car park. Advance entry tickets will be available until at least 28th July. It is looking good. Just ordering good weather!
Cliff
ps If you leave it until last minute to but tickets you might be able to get parking pass BUT not on the gate but will try to fit in late comers.

Re: 70 Years of Cooper at Prescott Hill Climb - Sat 30 July
It's me again.
Just got back from meeting at Prescott this morning. The event is now looking to be one not to miss. 14 competitors in Minis. Around 40 display cars including the 1946 car and over 40 spectator cars so far. Practice starts at 08:30 with large entry list. Promises to be a very full day with lots to see and do.
Mike Cooper, Paddy Hopkirk, Stuart Turner, Bill Price, Basil Wales, John Rhodes and Barrie Williams have all accepted an invitation to attend.
Prescott advance ticket line will be open until last minute.
Go on you know it makes sense.
Saw several forum members names on entry list. Thanks for your support.

I'm really looking forward to this one.
Rich, Tim & myself are competing & my Son Adam is coming too, I also recognise a few other names on the list.
Just a shame its a single day, Drive down Friday night, compete Saturday, drive back Saturday night, makes for a long day

Hi Mark
A big thank you to you personally and also the forum members for their support for this event, Prescott really appreciate it and it should be worth the trip, honest. Could you bring down a Mk1 Performance banner as I would like to display it on the fencing by the spectator area facing the clubhouse (across the track). What time do you plan to arrive on Friday?
See you soon.

I hope to be getting down early-ish evening. Will try to bring one of the big banners, but I'll have to break into Harewood & steal one as they are both still up there
