Setting up for heel and toe. 6'3"
Hello,
I am 6'3" and wear a size 11. Needless to say I can't heel and toe my mini as it is. The accelerator is too high when braking for me to reach. Plus if I try to contort too much my knees hit the back of the steering wheel. Might there be a means to bring the brake pedal forward an inch so that whilst braking it was level with the accelerator? Anyone have experience with this?

It might be possible, and easier to lower the accelerator pedal.
The throttle cable should only just go tight i.e. the carb reaching fully open throttle, as the pedal hits the floor, any tighter than this is unessesary and is straining the cable anyway.

Driving to work today I tried to figure out exactly what the problem is. The distance between the pedal and the bottom of the steering wheel is about the same distance between my toes and my knee. Thus resulting in knee to steering wheel interference. Bringing the brake pedal up would only make that worse. Longer steering column anyone?

I'm certainly not your height but I did have the same problem. Juggling with the seating position didn't help much. Eventually had to go for a different steering wheel. Now smaller & flatter. Helps a little but still not perfect.
Problem is that with the dog box I NEED to heel & toe. The doc said that a fully articulated ankle wasn't a NHS "jobbie"

one of toms drop brackets and moving the seat back will help you lots, you can also buy a spacer to move the wheel nearer to you, but i doubt an ape like you would need to do that!
its a case of spending time sorting out all the little bits like the angle of the brake pedal etc.

Sounds good. I have seat brackets and a steering drop bracket (not yet fitted). The spacer sounds like a good idea too. Cheers.

I'm 6'5". I find that with a drop bracket fitted, I have to splay my legs making it impossible to get 3rd, 4th & reverse. It's easier to take the front seat out and drive from the edge of the rear...

Re: Setting up for heel and toe. 6'3"
I'm 6'4 and have size 13. Oddly enough I have no trouble using both pedals with one foot. I'm running a slighly dished moto-lita wheel ( 14" ) and a drop bracket with a standard (but saggy) drivers seat with no extension brackets. I fit in fine.
It sounds like you need to sort your technique out!
I use the ball of my big toe joint on the centre of the brake pedal and the accellerator correctly adjusted is slightly behind the ball of my little toe joint. It doesn't involve any knee twisting or uncomfort and works fine. I don't have any sort of extension either.
Am I a freak? I can't see the problem!

It sounds like your pedals are set better. It might be that I need to bleed my brake lines some. When I brake my brake pedal is lower then the accelerator and there is no possible way to get my little toe up and on the pedal.

I might be dreaming here, but isn't an S brake pedal set higher than a 'non S' I know they are thicker too, but I'm fairly sure they start out higher, thus when pressed the relationship between brake and throttle is different?
Maybe this is just a longer master cylinder pushrod? You could maunufacture an adjustable rod....

This is what I am looking for. An adjustable push rod for the brake pedal. Something that raises the brake pedal by 1 inch would be spot on.

I just found this photo I took at goodwood a few years ago. Look at where the brake pedal is in relation to the accelerator. How do I make mine like that? Do I need a Cooper S brake pedal?

Obviously not, your Bigfoot it's heel & toe not toe & toeIn the shed wrote:I use the ball of my big toe joint on the centre of the brake pedal and the accellerator correctly adjusted is slightly behind the ball of my little toe joint. Here's something to check. The pedal end where the cable to the carb goes through the floor should not be against the floor but should be held off the floor by a small bracket. This drops the "foot" end of the pedal lower. That bracket often gets left out during a rebuild or when the brake/clutch pedal assembly is removed. Originally, the bracket would have had a rubber piece where the pedal hits to lessen the noise of the pedal returning.

Hi I cant post picture ?? it say " Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached " ????
I have a picture of my "office" its set up for 7 feet of driver with size 13 in shoes, and it works
I have a old very tall, steeringwheel boss, it moves the wheel almost 4" back/up, that really makes a difference.
But I dont have a remotebox, I have a homebuilt linkage.

Any chance of a picture of this in place ? Had this small bracket with my pedal box, just couldn't remember how or where it fits.cheleker wrote:Here's something to check. Just happened to be in the vicinity with a camera today.
Pic of the throttle pedal "stop" in position.

Pic of a loose "stop" found on a shelf.

Why dont you simply bend the accelerator pedal to suit ! You will find that you can bend it almost anywhere you want with a bit of force
