MCR Northumberland Borders Rally 2011

Post by cookie1071 »

Regulations for the fourth running of this mini-only clubman status event, taking place Saturday 19th March next, are now available and will be sent out to the usual suspects in the next few days or PM me for a copy. :D

I know after the last one some of the rally boys on here were keen to give it a go so i hope they're still up for the challenge! 8-)

Cheers, Niall.
PS. There'll also be a clubsport event (Tynedale Rally) for genuine novice crews. ;)

Yep if your a rally man i would recommend a trip out on this one. I would say , without sounding biased that it's one of the most enjoyable rallies i've done (20 years). Superb roads, excellent start and finish venues and friendly people, plus a cracking supper at the finish, what more could you ask for! :D

Not sure we can quite live up to that billing Steve  but we'll certainly be doing our level best to put on a good event for everyone. ;) In the meantime, the regs. for it can be found here:

Entries for this coming in steadily, including one from ANWCC Historic Champions, Paul Gray and Marcus Pomfret, as well as former winners, Paul Metcalfe and Stuart Wright.

We could definitely do with some marshals though pretty please? Cheers, Niall.

Niall, could you send me a set over and do I need to loose the single box maniflow to pass the noise reg's?

I may even fit some sound deadening and loose the door squares!!

Is there anywhere to camp or a cheap B&B??

Regs on link above unless you want a hard copy put in the post?

Re accom., the finish location (see regs) has 14 rooms plus there's both other B&B's and camping close by.

Got them, thanks.

Just speaking to a potential navi.

Is the specification (running latter head/carbs) a issue or does it just have to be a mini.

Also, how strict is the noise levels? Only ever done the tour of cheshire road rally and now this car has later modifactions (7 port)

Hi David,

The mods. you mention are OK but the noise reading musn't be over 98dB (compared to max. 100dB on stage rallies) - see MSA Yearbook R 4.1.2.

Last year the cars ranged between 79dB and 92dB, although i don't think we had anyone running a single box RC40.

I hope this helps but please do come back to me if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

Niall.

Entries still coming in for this - one from Pete Tyson/Neil Harrison, another from Alan Forster/Phil Bateman and also Dave Archer partnered by some guy called Pete Flanagan :? - track boy takes to the lanes! 8-)

Plenty more room though so get those forms in to us! ;)

Don't listen to them Pete, typical unproffesional pre event bully tactic's. You stick to your maps mate.

Shocking behaviour frankly ;)

Dave and I PR'd getting on for half the route today, with no problems, in fact, one resident (with horseboxes in his yard  ) i thought we might have trouble with turned out to be absolutely fine with it. He even offered to move his cars off the 90 left in front of the house! 8-)

Nearly got myself a cool course car, in the form of a K reg Lotus Elan, today too but the guy decided against in the end as it might get bit mucky down the lanes! I am after one for this event though so if there's someone out there with a period motor that fancies running ten minutes ahead of the field checking TC positions etc. out let me know. ;) Oh, and yeh I can probably supply a nav. if needed.

Cheers, Niall.

Entries as received are up on the website although there are a couple more to add, which i'll do tomorrow, plus there's at least one more 'in the pipeline'. A seeded entry list should be up the site sunday evening along with the finals. ;) Cheers, Niall.
