Heater valve

Post by Bertam »

The heater valve (slanted type) in my Mk 2 has gotten stuck and begun weeping. It is an older replacement, likely from the 90's, long before I bought the car. Not unexpectedly, I also know there have been durability issues on many of the Asian sourced replacement valves that have been available recently.

Is MS ADU9102MS any better in that regard or will I have to find a 'good' one elsewhere? I ask as a club member had a 'new' valve only last for a few weeks before it started to leak.

I've had one of the other Mini Spares 13H5506 'straight' type on the car since the 90's and it's still going strong. That said you can get lucky on Ebay now and again and after looking for a couple of months have just snapped up a NOS Smiths FHW1301/13A 183 angled type so worth keeping an eye on. That's not much help though if the old one has already failed though...

The ADU9102MS valve from Minispares appears to be up to the job. Not had a problem with these valves going pop since they introduced their own branded version. Unlike the Asian version sold prior which was rubbish.

Thanks for the replies and added information guys. Will add one of the MS valves to my next order as well as keep an eye out for an original on FeePay. The one on my car now is stuck half way between open and closed + is weeping in the centre but hasn't completely broken apart quite yet.
