Re: Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016
Well then, thank God I destroyed my engine....I only own CR65s and CR70s
Seriously though....going back to last weekend, all I changed from last season was
1. the coolant; I changed back to straight water from 4-Life waterless fluid
and
2. swapped the old plastic 11 blade for a metal two-blade. My thinking was that at an average speed of 80mph, the fan choice would not matter much
It stabilised at 95degC for practice and the whole race....which did for the head. Last season, it never went above 85degC

Re: Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016
I have never been keen on the 2 bladed fans. All noise & very little actual cooling. The 12 bladed plastic ones are a much better bet.
Oh how easy it is for me to be wise after your event.
I'm really sorry you won't make it to Harewood & hope that you get sorted soon.
Will the head take a skim or is it a new head job?

Re: Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016
you cannot go wrong with a plastic fan on a race car, those 2/4 blade metal fans are useless, they also stress crack round the bolt holes and throw the blades off (through a brand new two core rad......)

I doubt anyone will moan about someone using Cr65's - they offer no performance advantage whatsoever
I certainly would rather see cars having a go!
mine where fricking lethal, the first two bends where a case of point and hope - it was like driving a speedboat!

Quite right. I was perfectly ready to go all the way up there, even if it meant being excluded from the results. I was really looking forward to meeting you all.rich@minispares.com wrote:joking apartYMJ wrote:Well then, thank God I destroyed my engine....I only own CR65s and CR70s

Don't know yet about the head. I've got a track evening booked this Thursday at Donington, so will use this coming weekend to sort things out

I'll be there from 8(ish). Planned a couple of places to take some snaps from. Weather report looks good. See you all in the paddock.

Weather forecast looks OK, but bring a wooly jumpre & rain coat just in case.
Looking forward to seeing a few mates & putting faces to a few names on Saturday.

No insurance sorted yet. Harewood has some good spectator places with no high fences, the only down side is the walk back up the hill afterwards.smithyrc30 wrote:Did you get personal liability insurance?surfblue63 wrote:Planned a couple of places to take some snaps from....

Stu doesn't do wooly jumpers. Or rain coats. Stu is so tough he doesn't even do sleeves.mk1 wrote:Weather forecast looks OK,t but bring a wooly jumpre & rain coat just in case

Re: Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016
a great day at harewood!
my class record now belongs to john askew!
billy cooper 2nd (I collected your trophy and mark f has it for you!)
mark f third

I also had a huge grass cutting episode on one of my practice goes, and was lucky that no one filmed it and I 100% didn't have to bribe stu not to put the footage he didn't take on youtube (I think that's cleared that up!)
nick w 5th
bill needham 6th
Andrew dickens 7th

Re: Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016
Just landed home thankyou to Mark for organising the class. It was a great day.
it was really good to meet some faces from the forum and seeing people actually enjoying driving their cars.
Roll on the next one (with a new LSD fitted lol)
