A shame it's not RH drive as I'm sure it would be on a ferry back to the mother land.

We had one as a works van too but a petrol version. The reason we had a petrol one was that we'd already tried the diesel :( To say it was slow and underpowered would be an understatement of extreme proportions

Still not totally 'bullshit-free" then.
He probably means that a previous owner overslept a couple of times and had to put his foot down a bit to get to work on time ....THAT is a sort of race isn't it?
Nice story though. About as likely as the genuine 19,000miles......
No photos of the current state in the ebay ad either?
I'm sure it is a perfectly viable project at the right price.
I wonder why (and how) the registration came to be "on retention" as the car would have had to be MOT'd for this?
The car will have been issued with a replacement won't it and the current V5 will show that?
But at least the reasons for not completing the resto are "legitimate" :)

.....'In the coming two year's Europe's Leading Collector of MINI's has informed us this car would be worth in excess £45,000...'

I wonder what someone who collects BMW MINIS knows about the values of classic minis.......

PLEASE CAN I ASK THAT WE NOW DROP THE SUBJECT OF THIS CAR!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182144457958? ... EBIDX%3AIT

The subject has been done to death. Its a not very appealing 997 Cooper restoration project with a story that has more holes than a cullinder. It once belonged to a man called T. Sopwith, this T Sopwith had nothing whatsoever to do with the WW1 aircraft pioneer, he just had the same surname & initial. The above has been established without a shadow of a doubt. It may or may not have been tuned by Oselli at some point, but who knows. Whichever way you look at it, it is not worth the £12,000 the bid currently sits at.

There is absolutely NO POINT repeating the same thing over & over again.

Another group for auction. Considering he's got a 1071 engine hiding down there in the listing, the title of the auction is pretty awful. And if you want the motor you have to take all of the other stuff, too? Good luck with all that.

Well, it was either that or the dog ate the paperwork. Fire sounds more legit.

I was wondering because he didn't put an actual good picture of the box in the photos and you'd think he'd want to showcase them in this time of crazy prices for original packaging!

Anyone want to pay me 1700 for some B&G bonnet pins still on the original card? :)

Isn't that the firm that were on the rogue traders TV prog? Dished pistons and hardy Spicers is odd for a 1071? Could be a cheap S lump in there somewhere though?

I went and looked at it this evening. It's not an S block unfortunately just a pre A+ 1275 with +.030 TRW pistons (Dad used to buy them for £9 each) a 286 cam and a light flywheel.

I had high hopes but sadly it wasn't all that special.
