Don't like the colour scheme but quite fancied that , just didn't get a chance to register to bid.surfblue63 wrote:Coming up for auction at Brightwells, a nice race prepped Elf with a very low estimate (compared with what a race Mini would be). Found this gent. Has some really nice steering wheels and lights and some other tasty bits. He had something up on eBay that I inquired about and he pointed me to his page. I like the Wipac 294s but a little too late for my car, although, maybe not for when it was being rallied, I suppose. And he no longer has the LL Sebring-style mirrors (cough, cough). We started chatting and he said he has some good Mini parts and he would be putting up a page of them soon.
Seemed a good fellow and willing to negotiate prices.

It's what he cleaned all the carbs in, now it shagged and full of muck.zbarbera wrote:I checked to see what else he's selling. I love that it's all engine parts basically and then randomly, a dish washer. Rare Works tuned dishwasher, I believe.smithyrc30 wrote:One set of the original A series rockers.
Collapsible aluminum pillars, worn pads (gone through the chill hardening) with the hammer break off tips.
Even BMC thought they were crap and replaced them with the pressed steel arms.

Still cannot understand why people try and charge so much for them....

Hammered at £14,000, so cost the buyer £15680 with premium and VAT. I did notice that the car has no external extinguisher or battery isolator so it still needed a far bit of work before it would be eligible for anything.Pete wrote:Don't like the colour scheme but quite fancied that , just didn't get a chance to register to bid.surfblue63 wrote:Coming up for auction at Brightwells, a nice race prepped Elf with a very low estimate (compared with what a race Mini would be). Advertised as a mk2 S....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1969-AUSTIN-M ... SwF0NXL3iN
However I don't recall Mk2's having riveted boot board brackets.......
What an obvious very poor fake......do these fakers think we are stupid ??....This is obviously a basic MK2 Mini, ok condition, with some repro S stuff thrown on it, along with a GT engine and box, I bet it doesn't have hardy spicers....and a Cooper S identity from a car that rotted away years go attached. It is probably a good basis for a " recreation ", but lets be realistic !!
PS...I talked a friend out of viewing this with the intention of buying today.......at that price anyway !

That's not bad value if it's a genuine S, especially if it's got a SMMC engine
