ummm…it has a Clubman front
Possibly the most famous privateer rally car and one of the most successful of the era and had a clubman front for most of it's rally career! Featured in and sponsored by Cars and Car Conversion magazine?? Come on lads, keep up!
Totally agree Pete, this was the last competitive Mini in the early seventies that I seen in action. Back then as you say it had the Clubman front. From my memory it was as competitive as any of the works cars. I know a gentleman who loves that car so don’t be surprised if it heads across the Irish Sea :D :D

Alan
Well i did notice it has RH cancel or mini wipers so it isnt a clubman body shell.
I presumed the clubbie front was there for the 8 port and extra room from the start.

£80K is a bit rank though isnt it?

It's restored to original spec for that car. Bloomin eck, it's a famous rally car over here not just a Mk2 S, that's the least interesting bit!

Perhaps 'original competition spec' would be a better term for you :?: , Pete might as well paint his Unipower white again and disregard it's race history if every car had to be as it left the factory, it's the differences that make them all interesting :D

Spitz How can you look at a famous rally car like WNX and possibly think he meant 'original factory spec??' You'll be pulling it for the door chromes next! And it's not even Tartan Red! :o

The front end was swapped originally due to a shunt as I remember, and actually I didn't think it was an S to start with which on a car like this is barely relevant.

Yes I think you're all right....should have stated original race spec or something like that in the ad, definitely not "original" factory spec. as may be perceived by the ad.
And it's most definitely relevant if you're selling a car now days advertised as an original spec "S"
And those doors don't have the trim around the window....tsk....lol.. :P

Now that needs a lot of time and money spent on it, projects like this were a few hundred pounds not many years ago. I would think a minimum 4k in panels alone.

Coming up for auction at Brightwells, a nice race prepped Elf with a very low estimate (compared with what a race Mini would be). Ideal for the A-Series Challenge, class D HSCC and others.
