We'll see Rich, will come up anyway if I can't use the Unipower, maybe use a different car.

Re: Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016
Just to clarify.
The class is open to all PRE 1972 saloon cars.
If a car is a later model on an earlier log book, it may be excluded on the day. This is the only HISTORIC Meeting run at Harewod once a year & it is open to historic & classic cars only. There are about a dozen other meetings which are all open to all comers.

I spoke to Jackie and she said to send some photos of the car but I think I'll leave it to be honest, I don't wanna upset anyone.mk1 wrote:Just to clarify.

Hi Tom,
"I don't wanna upset anyone."
I hope that's not directed at me!
All I was doing was quoting from the eligibility regs. I didn't want anyone to get knocked back at the gate, that's all.

Not upsetting me either Tom. I'm just coming up to....
1. have a laugh
2. meet up with Mark and Rich
3. see how much grip I cannot get on cold CR65s
Unless there's a 1200cc Yamaha engine lurking under your bonnet, who cares? .....but even that would be interesting and I (personally) wouldn't be too bothered about that either!

tom (and a couple of other people who have asked me 'what do you think about my later car' / early car with non period engine)tomkidd wrote: I think I'll leave it to be honest, I don't wanna upset anyone.
the problem is that the C19 class is not just for minis, anyone with a pre 1972 car can enter, and the whole meeting is the VSCC historic event, so it could be possible that another competitor who has entered in a pre 1972 car may take the 'hump' at later cars with early plates, or early cars running obvious modern engines and complain to the clerk of the course / the scruitneers and have the car removed from the running list.
at the end of the day its a proper event, and all the VSCC cars have to comply with the regs, so its probably best to satisfy yourself by contacting Jackie the events secretary to get a 'yay' or 'nay.
it may well be that she is happy to accept 'wrong-uns' as long as they are a series powered and look right just to fill the grids, but only she can decide that.

No it wasn't directed at you Mark, I was meaning in general at Harewood, I wouldn't want to get passed to compete and then have other people upset that it was a reshell.mk1 wrote:Hi Tom,

Re: Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016
Seeing as the class doesn't require you to be road registered why not just enter it as a 1971 Mini and take your plates off? Sorted! There's a few late shell "historic Minis" enter at Shelsley and nobody bats an eyelid. Especially as the class includes eight ports, beam axles and all sorts!

There's still a while to go but surely we can chase up a few locals with non-Minis, can't we?

I'm still really up for it, a car to drive permitting. Never driven Harewood!

It really is easy. It's just a few safety precautions and it's done. My mate in his Aston Vantage did the work on his in one Saturday afternoon....and he's from Yorkshire!gr4h4m wrote:I would love to do this but doubt there is enough time to sort it out

I was thinking more about the ards test for the national b licence? Plus then the cost of the clothing, etc. Got to be looking at £600+ and then the entry

U don't need an ards test. Just a nat b licence. Overalls and Helmet, which you will use again and a couple of safety mods, have craic at Blyton !

As Pete says, no Ards course, to get a national Speed B all you have to do is send off for it (with a few bob in the envelope, of course).
