HSCC Castle Combe Anniversary Historic Race Meeting

Post by surfblue63 »

I took a trip to the first HSCC event of the season at Castle Combe on Saturday, the Anniversary Historic Race Meeting.

To start off with here are some of the entries in the Turing Car race.

Here's some of the other sites from the paddock including a display of cars that appeared in the first Griffiths Formula race held on 14th May 1966 at Castle Combe, which led to the formulation of the HSCC.

And finally a couple of single seaters including this very well prepared Cooper Junior with A-Series power

I'll be posting some wet practice and dry race shots in the next day or so.

Crikey, look like you can't leave your car for a minute around there.

Someone has had at least 2 wheels off the Mustang and all of them off that Cortina.... :) :) :)

Great shots as always!

I'll check the time sheets on that one.

Steve Jones didn't have a good day, after missing a gear coming out of Quarry he had a little spin

Image

Two laps later it sounded like he missed a gear again and that was his day over. Turned out he'd mangled his drop gears.

I do believe this monster competed in the Circuit of Ireland Rally about 10 years ago. If it's not the same car, an identical motor was entered but had to retire as it was literally too big for our roads!!

For some unknown reason Ford decided to debut the '63 Falcon on the 1963 Monte Carlo rally.

And there is one from Sweden that has entered the Roger Albert Clark for the last couple of years.

It could be my eyes, but I sure the block has A+ core plugs. Perhaps they're permitted in that particular formula??

Cracking shots as ever Surf. That Imp looks like it had a coming together with a Mini by the tyre mark on the door.

Some of the guys look like they were having a job to keep it all together, Alfa, Cortina, Imp, all crossed up!
