Pete wrote:That's the first one. That one does look like a real one at least (no offence Paul!). The value of these has gone through the roof and it seems project values specifically. I think the logbook on it's own is probably the bulk of the value and there's plenty still building cars from those!

I sold an original shell/engine/trim/etc '65 1275 S recently and I'm thinking I sold it too cheap!

No offence taken! Tbh my biggest fear about selling was the online reaction/slagging/stupid offers/daft questions! It seems to have walloped through the silly offer barrier, I'm flabbergasted tbh but also sad as I know I'll never own another. The money will go to restoring my Mainstream to original spec and maybe the 78 GT in the corner...

The general impression I get from high end buyers is they're looking for something fun and reliable to invest their cash into as banks and property offer little or no reward and word has got to them that Mk1 S's are the thing to invest in. For me there's so little difference between a restored Mk1 S and a restored Mk1 850 with an S lump in it and discs but the difference in value would be around £20K in real terms. They're not just looking for a classic go faster Mini that's for sure, it's an investment thing and the reason so many of them disappear into long term storage once purchased.

Good Grief....

When I first saw it I thought it was just a badly re sized picture.... However.....

Not sure what makes it a Cooper though, apart from the 210kph speedo (in the USA???)

Check out the advanced features on this 1971 Austin  The chassis number seems to be from a clubman...
Very rare opportunity to own this 1971 Austin Mini. This was a Mini brought over from London and titled as a 1971. These are rare cars, but this one is VERY rare indeed, a genuine original rust free 99 Mini, unmolested, from the same owner since 2002. Features:

Yes, it is fuel injected, and yes it has an air bag. All from the factory! How many classic mini's have that??! !

Not sure what's going on at the back there but looks like the owner was trying to turn it into a 'BINI'...

1071 engine and box. Lay gear doesn't look S to me but could be the angle of the photo.

you lot are just rude beasts

when im driving in my mini cooper convertible, I like to be safe in the knowledge that if I rolled it, my stovepipe top hat would not only survive, but retain its full 14" height with no damage.

for that reason, and that reason alone, I like to have a roll cage that extends that far above the windscreen.

it also doubles as a handy parrot perch

I wonder if the sell knows that all the glass in an mpi mini has the original chassis number dot etched into it, so you don't really need to be Sherlock holmes to spot it!

I always quite fancied one of these with a rover v8 in it - something as big as that deserves a bit of rumble in its belly!
