Harewood Hillclimb - Historic Meeting June 2016

Post by mk1 »

I am very pleased to announce that MK1 Performance Conversions will be sponsoring class C19 at this years Historic Hillclimb Meeting.

The class is open to all Saloon cars built up to 1972 & is pretty much free, so if your car complies with basic Motorsport regulations you can run, no cage etc is required.

For example last year the class comprised of Me & Rich in our racers, Bill Needham in his Twincam, a fairly standard S a Triumph Herald Vitesse & a bog standard Jensen Interceptor.

It would be great to see any sporting members for a meet up at Harewood in the summer.

All details are available here.

its worth pointing out that take part in this you will need a speed national b licence, be a member of BARC and a member of the Yorkshire section, so there is a few costs involved, but it was well worth it last year

a great mix of cars and its the only class that is run that doesn't require the car to have an msa logbook or be restricted to many of the other class rules

It's a great place to spectate as well, with various places to watch from.

As Rich says there is a great mix of cars.

Some of the rivals from last year

This would tick my 2016-what-am-I-doing-here-why-am-I-doing-this-why-are-we-all-doomed box. My mate is northern and has an Aston he is hillclmbing this season. I'm sure he could talk to the right people and fiddle me a visa to get into Yorkshire ;)

It's not the visa to get in you need to worry about, it's the expensive one you need to buy to leave...

What's the requirement for safety gear? Helmet presumably, overalls?
Any date stipulations on helmets, seats, harnesses (probably not with the last two of no log book needed).

Graeme

you have to have a helmet and overalls

no requirement for race seats or harnesses - the man in the Jensen just arrived, stuck his race number on the side and enjoyed him self

class C19 is very unusual in this respect as the rules are basically 'a saloon car registered pre 1972' everything else is free - thought I think there would be some muttering if someone took the micky with slicks / a full race look etc.

they basically want cars that look period correct to fit in with the theme of the VSCC meeting

just turn up and enjoy yourself, with a little bit of competition between mates - what could be better 8-)

YMJ (FIA racer) would be OK wouldn't it? I'm seriously looking at making a jolly weekend of it with possibly my mate in Classic Marques with his Aston and even more possibly.....The Wife!

it would be fine

both marks hornet and my racer were accepted with no issues at all

as long as the cars look period and are pre 72 there will not be a problem

its 13" wheels on slicks, twin cam heads, etc that will be frowned upon

Belts have just changed to dated for many classes other than road-going production I think. I'd be up for this but I've an entry for Chumly the weekend before.
