FIA help please!

Hello all

Getting to the finishing touches of building an FIA Cooper S. I was wondering if you other racers out there would be able to give me a steer on what shocks to use/avoid? Swiftune Koni's seem tempting, but not cheap.

Also, is it permissible to fit an extra electric cooling fan? The regs seem unclear, althought that might well be me being thick.

Nothing wrong with AVO shocks.

Correct.
Just make sure whatever brand you use is NOT aluminium bodied (or anything that is not steel)

An electrical cooling fan was/is not a pre-66 period mod (homologated or otherwise) so is not allowed. Cannot think it would do much good either.

I'm confused about shock choice too.

Do the regs not say that the dampers can't be adjustable?

Shocks can be adjustable but must be steel bodied.

2015 FIA Appendix K - Appendix IX (page 79)
2.2 Shock absorbers
Adjustable shock absorbers of the same type as the period
specification ones are permitted.

And just to clarify what is not allowed look at Appendix VII of Appendix K

2. Suspensions
2.1 Shock absorbers
2.1.1 Make is free but the number fitted and principle of operation must
be of the period specification (telescopic or lever type, hydraulic,
gas-filled hydraulic or friction operated) and the operating systems
must have been in use on automobiles in the period.
2.1.2 Models fitted with a gas chamber additional to the original,
whether outside or inside the damper body, are not acceptable.

A Group 2 FIA saloon car must comply with both Appendix VIII and Appendix IX.

Back again...

Engine was run in on the dyno on Friday and other than a fuel pump glitch, the car is all ready for its first test at Blyton next week. Would anyone be able to give a steer on basic geometry settings - I appreciate you won't want to give away the last few tenths but a decent baseline would be much appreciated. All of my racing to date has been in single seaters and sports cars, so I'm a bit at a loss when it comes to cars with roofs

i got these values from a FIA racer, trust they should be a good starting point,

Front:
1.5 neg degrees camber
7 degrees castor
10 min toe out

rear
0.5 neg or zero camber
zero toe / parallel wheels
