GENUINE BADGE OR NOT ???

Post by STG95F »

Just received a Cooper badge from Spain , I was told it was a genuine part ?

Did all Badges have J FRAY marking ?

Top badge in photo is my old badge - bottom one is the supposed genuine item ??

Pins all the same and badge size is spot on . What are the Mini spares one like ??

Yes, they should have the fray and the p/n casting on them.
Here are a couple of examples.
Hard to say if the badge you received is genuine...it may have been re-chromed...however, there appears to a difference in the head of the pins...again, this could be the result of grinding/cleaning for restoration.

The bottom one in the top pic is undoubtedly a duffer.

Why would BMC have "Austin" badges produced in Spain?

Authi never made an Austin Cooper.

As I said, why would Authi be making bad copies of "Austin" Badges?

Sorry, I meant a badge for an Austin car (ie an Austin Cooper), not an actual badge that says "Austin" on it
