A small few do travel south for the annual MCR track day at Castle Combe which is very good, not that I've been for many years ! As for Oulton me and (Mk1 Rally) Dave will probably do one at Oulton anyway and I'll post up the date in advance in case anyone wants to tag along.

As for Croft, well we would do that too, Steady Eddie (Russ) showed interest and Graham , so that's a start ? Who organised the last one (a few years ago) ..can't remember.

Surf 1275 ........... I take it,it's a track day that you know of at Oulton ? Do you know roughly when it is ? One shared with an MG club would be great. ie slow cars. :D

Pandora..... A knockhill track day could only be a shared with another club, as we could never pay for the hire of the track.

No I'm just talking in general terms, there are quite a few to choose from on the Oulton calender.
The only track days organised by a club would be somewhere less corporate/ busy , like Combe, Croft(?) . I've a feeling Aintree do the odd club one and then there's sprint 'circuits' like Curborough which the MCR used to hire and one car at a time would circulate.

Was it Mark Boldry and in conjunction with the Midget owners club? If it cost about the same as the MCR day at Coombe, i'd be keen on Croft, as would some of my mates i suspect. Oulton would be good too - a fair distance from us up here but it's only once a year so what the heck!

Cheers, Niall.

Yep I'd like to do Croft as a bit of fun but I can't afford that plus travel to & compete in tarmac rallies. That plus even the possibility of an odd near at hand classic event.

So for me yes Knockhill as it's near & wouldn't incur much in travel costs. Accommodation costs would be NIL.

The cost of travelling fuel these days has unfortuately put paid to a lot of things.

Yes, as I said croft would be a doer for me and I f I could get hold of a big trailer, we could pull two cars up there pete?. As for oulton, well it would be rude not too. I can recomend some good camping site's down here too, close to the track.

So it's a matter of dates.

Like I said I don't mind travelling, but Oulton would be easier for me.

I'm keen on Oulton, that said someone has just asked me to navigate for them this year and sent me a list of events...33 of them !!!! :o

Croft I have bad memories of from 2006 RAC, we nearly destroyed our Escort in there...lol

That does look like good value. Any idea how long the circuit is? Looks longer than Curborough but shorter than Croft, Coombe, etc. Also, what's the score re the no. of cars allowed on the circuit at any one time, laps per session, etc.??

Niall.

I'm sure some of the local guys from the 16v miniclub sprint series would be interested in a local test day if you need more cars.

The teeside track isn't what I am looking for. I originaly started off thinking of Croft because I havn't been there.
Oulton was another which I would go to, I have raced there along time ago.
My point was to try and get a track day that could feel like a race.
I would be travelling a long way and have to take at least 2 days to do this, so I will wait for Oulton maybe see what comes along.

I'll see what can be found out from Oulton, let me crack on with that but if we don't have enough numbers then we may well have to tag on with a previous trackday group (like book a track and the like).

I'll take a look tomorrow and post it back up here.

Dave I think they publish the dates at a month or so's notice at Oulton so it's hard to know if there'll be one months in advance. I'm up for both venues anyway, when me car's done !
