Original oil pressure gauge fitting in block
I have just removed an original Oil pressure gauge oil pipe fitting from a Mk 1 S block and now want to fit it into a 998 A+ block but the thread is different.
Can someone tell me what the correct thread size is please, or give me a lead on a fitting that I can buy and use.
Cheers.
David

Never mind, I believe I have answered my own question.

Hey? I thought they were all 1/8" NPT from start to finish.

So did I, but the original fitting wont screw into the A+ block. The block is not damaged in any way, they are just different sizes.

Mine has been moved between both old A series, and later A+ - without trouble.

I'm sure I've seen 60's A series engines oil take off fitted with a copper washer, so were probably 1/8 BSPP.
Having said that oil pressure senders are 1/8 NPT, but they would nip up and hold pressure on a parallel thread.

Sounds like one of the butchers from your favourite forum have been at it.850man wrote:So did I, but the original fitting wont screw into the A+ block. The block is not damaged in any way, they are just different sizes.

Here is what I have - http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search
Mine is original BMC, not repro.

I believe the block is 1/8 NPT and what I am trying to screw into it is 1/8 BSP. Strange because I have fitted hundreds of the oil gauge fittings into A series blocks without an issue but now I am trying to fit one to an A+ block it wont screw in.
Its not damaged in any way, a normal oil pressure switch screws straight in.

I'll have a look at a Cooper S Block when I go down to the workshop later.

I removed the fitting from an S block, that was fine, its the newfangled A+ thing that's giving me grief.Spider wrote:I'll have a look at a Cooper S Block when I go down to the workshop later.

Not 100% sure but isn't the SPi A+ block of later vintage an M10x1.0mm?
