Remote hole on the floor pan tunnel

This is a 64 1071 cut out...pre hydro cars have the hole where the old push start button was. This is now used for a bracket/clip to hold the battery cable in place.

I talked with the seller yesterday, a famous and kind mini specialiste,

As for him, he is totally sure about the shell,

It still has the original vynil stuck under the front window,

I don't know what to think,

I have the FE number, and the vin number as well

Some news today,

The guy that restore the car, cut the egge and bend it over to put a wrench between the hole and the floor pan..

The seller check with his personal 970 and 997 that used to belong to his father, exactly the same cutout

As I already said, this cooper is full matching numbers, with the original body number welded on the front panel

He checked on several cooper on the shop and every cutaway were similar


The First hole seems to be too close from the edge, but if you look carefully the previous one seems to be filled with filler or paint at the good place (on the left)



On this picture the seller explained to me that the hole had been just deformed by the previous restorer He tried to remove the two screw that hold the remote from the inside of the car,

As for me if we "reform" the hole, bending slightly the metal, the shape will be good as original.

I also have some pictures from the interior and the vynil seems to be original on the dashrail as well..

We can see that the previous owner drill another hole to make the screw aligned

My 1966 Cooper , just has normal drill holes for the mountings . not the early type that have a square recess in the cross member .
