Re: 567 cam
Back in the late 60s early 70s we used the 997 cam in Cooper S 1293s sprinting/ autocross with great results. I'm thinking for off the shelf the MG Metro cam would be better. Steve (CTR)
Edit; also used the 510 cam in 850s for same purpose.

Re: 567 cam
The 997 Cooper cam works very will in a 1275 giving a perky little engine that is better that standard.
Downton used this cam in a lot of their conversions.

Re: 567 cam
I have used a 997 cam in 1150 and can confirm that it worked very well on the road, but if you are not intent on using that cam why not go for a similar duration cam but with a more modern profile. Something like a kent 246 will give you more performance gain across the board.

This may have been a mis-post as it was on the carb-body reaming thread?

The MG Metro cam is 252/268 not 230/252 and there are a few other numbers for popular cams that don't match up with anything else I've seen published.

My copy of the Leyland ST manual lists C-AEA567 as:coop12g295 wrote:<SNIP>found a slot drive 567 cam

16/56/51/21, the same as the 997cc Cooper cam (Also known as 88G229, 2A948 and 12A122).
The "567" version is on a 1/2" lobe whereas the numbers above are for a standard 3/8" version.
16/56/51/21 gives durations of 252/252 degrees inlet/exhaust.
The 510 was 10/50/51/21 (240/252 degrees).
The 997 Cooper profile was my Dad's cam of choice for his 1216cc Imp/1098 engine that he
built in the early 1970's. When I re-built the engine in the late '80's, I used the later MG Metro
profile which had the same inlet lobe, but with the extended exhaust of the 731/800.
I've never heard/read a bad word about the 997 Cooper cam, so the wide-lobe
"competition" version could be a sensible choice for this application.
As coop12g295 already owns this cam, it will also be the least expensive choice.

Yup - should have been posted here. Seems the board can get confused by having multiple windows open on different threads and then trying to reply to one.
The SW5 numbers also don't match up with any empirical data I've seen (Swifts don't publish numbers) so it would be interesting to know where they came from.
