One of the works navigators, usually with the late Tony Fall. ;)

Circuit of Ireland to try and beat the Escorts. They did not :(

well done flanny.

Both Tony and Mike were not only respected for their rallying abilities, but as you can see, they were fun to be with.

What a breath of fresh air.............

There are many more than this in Mike's collection, one of E-MO hillclimbing at Harewood etc, in fact one or two of some very scantily clad young ladies along the way as I remember too ! Mike used to come along to our MCR meetings in the early 90's and we'd get treated to a full slide show, great colour aren't they ? Rare to see colour pics of the lightweight Circuit car, though some would say that's a good thing ! Me, I love it, the ultimate in rally car development at the time but as Ronnie says not enough to win the Circuit, not quite.

Some great pics Pete, be interesting to see if the deseaming is as bad when the restoration for GRX311D is finished as it is in those pics, I guess filler wasn't up to much back then!

If I remember correctly (Motoring News) reported paddy as finishing with blistered hands (running a tight LSD).

Is that a crease in the A panel, or just a reflection?

Hard to say , it's certainly a 'bit wobbly'.

More Tony Fall pics here inc one of his early rally car AAK 200B, I presume Tony's son has put these up...

That's a pretty major accident, bearing in mind the 240Z must be a pretty strong car, anyone remember where, it looks like either Full Sutton or Melbourne?

Cracking colour photo's.

I made enquiries about buying GRX311D a few years ago when it was for sale, but was beaten to it.

I know that modern digital stuff is really clever as are the computer programmes to edit it but there's something very special about the old Kodachrome slides, it's like you're actually there ! And this set on Flickr are only very low res, the originals are fantastic. I've got hold of a fair bit of Kodachrome stuff recently , now and then a collection will appear that someone has had digitally converted (very expensive job) which will reveal a whole load of previously inseen history (still awake ? ) that's been in a cupboard draw perfectly preserved for decades.
Kodachrome of course can no longer be processed, as of this month the very last lab (Switzerland ?) closed down.

One thing these slides do reveal is just how pristinely Abingdon turned out their cars , I'm sure there's some who would now be calling them over restored cos they're not covered in shit or rust !
