Problem sale

Post by YMJ »

I have a difficult conundrum......

A classic car restorer has contacted me to ask if I have any bits for sale - Mk1 steering column, heater and rear quarterlight frames, windows, piano hinges and catches.
However I know that they will be used to restore a car that belongs to the godfather of my eldest son (ergo a good mate).

How much do I charge him, bearing in mind 1. they don't make these parts anymore and 2. I am now without spares in the event of an mishap/accident? :?

Tim, You could just say that you need these parts for the reason you describe and refer him to another supplier, like that one in Sheffield ;)

.. or stick 'em on Ebay and ask him to bid .

Pretty straight forward, if you need 'em (or predict you will) keep 'em. If you don't - sell 'em to your mate direct at 'mates rates'.

Simples.

Well I say that, I did that with a load of stuff many years ago to a 'mate' , very cheap and low and behold months later the bits turn up in a 'for sale' advert in the back of a magazine.

Safe to say words were had.
