I've wrapped it in electrical tape (tight) and used a hacksaw but it still frays enough to not let me get the hose ends on... grrrrrrr.

Re: Cutting braided fuel hose
i always wrap the hose with masking tape, then cut using an angle grinder fitted with one of the really thin steel cutting dics. the teflon hose will require a light deburr and a thorough flush through .

Re: Cutting braided fuel hose
sawing is a total loss, i use a feck off big chisel and lump hammer on the back of a knackerd vise. you get a good straight tidy cut every time, i find that also the flattend shape the hose goes actuly helps a tad with puting the threaded collor on,
you should try -12 somtime

Dremel is easier to control than a grinder.
Have heard both the (sharp) chisel and aviation snips techniques work well though.

I never knew there were so many methods of doing the same thing
Am a wrap it in tape & hit it with the angle grinder type guy myself.

Re: Cutting braided fuel hose
When using the tape , make sure you wrap it TIGHT . Also , what type of tape you use can make a difference . Black electrical tape will expand slightly allowing the steel braid to "Flare" out . We use a Glassfibre tape at work which doesn't expand at all after the cut has been made.
