Homologation of 12" wheels

Post by hanlminiman »

I think some time ago someone asked about 12" wheels for racing but can't find the thread. I have discovered that Dunlop homologated 12" wheels & tyres in 1969.

Hi,

this depends on car and group and could only be done by the manufacturer. The 1275S got his ones in april 69.

Same race, Gordon Spice...

I unearthed this picture in a set a few years ago, some of the pics are from early season testing which all took place on 10" wheels.

The grey Mini behind was Peter Lague's rapid privateer car, still on 10" wheels.

Gp5, thus the wheels don't need to be homologated. They only need to fit under 2" wheel arch extensions as required by Gp5 rules. That's why there is no thing such as Gp7 arches, MaClaren CanAm sports cars didn't need them.

Note the 10" wheels, the wrong shell, the wrong steering wheel and I think the young lady is on double Ds.

A mate of mine has just built a Mk2 Britax replica, oh great yet another one!  They'll have their own club soon! Odd really, I must have seen well over a dozen Britax replicas over the years but none of the car that actually won the championship.....Spice in it the year before..
