Maniflow? official advice is to bend it to make it fit.. that lower section is the same as my stg3 lcb, I took chunks out of the remote, there's no way on earth it'll 'bend' as suggested
On each of the maniflow 8 port manifolds i've fitted the y piece has also needed altering, its been pointing up through the floor!

Tother Rich said - and I quote '' Seeing as your further ahead of the rest of us getting the car ready for Blyton I thought id send you a duff exhaust just to throw a spanner in the works''
Fairy muff then
Just got through to maniflow and.......
Official advice was to put a bar in the end and twist them round So im going to get 2 forklifts , strap the engine to one and the exhaust to another and pull the bloody threads out of the head - they must think im a bloody Blacksmith making twisted fence poles.
Im ignoring the Clutch comments, your all just childish.
If it can be adjusted at the head studs ok then there is enough meat in the alloy remote extensio to create room, look on my mk1 britax build thread and you'll see i had to chop some sticky out bits off the remote and grind the bod of it a bit.
I did have to use a mikalor type clamp on the y piece cos there was only millimetres between the body and exhaust and couldnt use the standard steady between the diff and the downpipe as there wasnt room. I then made an extra long and bent steady that went from diff bracket to one of the y piece clamps.

Pad,
We had the same issue on our FI 8 port engine...our solution...
Cut the two down pipes below the (engine/gearbox line)..slightly rotate the pipes and change the angle...then re-weld back together. (We used a 1" collar for added strength at the new joint)
Think we may have taken a small amount off the one pipe as well...this bring the Y piece more in line too.
Now, I know this is a drastic move however, you can get the bottom part to fit perfectly.
Having said this...why in the H****** should you have to do this!!!...you would think a company like Maniflow could get in right in the first place.
These manifolds are not cheap...cutting and welding will mess up the nice finish...but it will fit correctly.

Ed. yes, that would be nice however, you will get another one just like the one you returned!
To be honest...I am not totally satisfied with Maniflow products. eg....the crimped silencers..the flat end silencers and the main exhaust pipe are not the same as the originals. They claim they make them from NOS items that they have. Don't get me wrong...really good workmanship and quality...just not the same as originals....
These are not cheap parts either.
Must be different NOS parts compared to the one I have here.
As I've found in other parts if you don't take it back and explain it doesn't fit then there's no incentive to make them change it! Case in point were some Xk lay shafts ide ordered that were oversize. The supplier suggested honing the case to fit! I got hold of the manufacturer and explained the problem and he said they were CNC machined to the original jag spec. Trouble was nobody told him that they were then sent out to be heat treated!! And they grew in that process, after a conference call with the supplier it got sorted. But I always wonder about all those honed out cases from people that just did as they were told........
Glad I've read this today. Was going to order one Monday after debating whether or not to fabricate my own. I'll be making my own by the looks of it now.

While I've not had any Maniflows for Cross Flow Heads, I am over them not fitting out of the box. I think I had one set in probably 10 that actually fit, they were miles out. They are otherwise good, but then there are others around that are equally as good and actually fit, and cheaper.
I can't ever see myself buying an (over-rated) Maniflow stuff again.
The whole point about them not being told doesnt apply, I've contacted Maniflow about the stg 3 lcb not fitting round a remote, Pad's done the same, the same advice was offered - Bend it
I did contemplate cutting and shutting but as soon as i did that i knew then the Y piece wouldnt fit and then THAT would need chopping and re-welding.
Maniflow have no competition, thats the problem.

Ooh they look nice, equal lengh primary pipes. they will work far better than any of the others.
Most extractors are made to fit rod change boxes these days, they are the most common and the manufactures know it.
I usually heat the poor fitting extractors up with an oxy and with a length of water pipe bend the pipes to where they need to be. They often rub on rubber uni flanges as well so some rework is often required.
I would send it back to the retailer and demand a refund. A small amount of adjustment to get it to fit is one thing, having to cut up and weld additional peices into a brand new manifold is a different matter. You could easily end up with a pile of scrap. It seems the issue is the remote box, but it should be clear on the website that the manifold was designed for use with a rod box only if that is the case. £500 is not small change you should not be in a position of making do. I am sure the retailer could put some pressure on Maniflow to come up with a proper solution, they might do just that if enough customers refuse to accept badly designed / made products, and demand a refund. Its not fit for purpose, simple as that.
