The number of perfectly sound early Minis we used to see in scrappers that had been attacked with the chains of death, I used to find some belters. Those were the days, when a trip to the scrapper was a day out!

Yes, but the last photo has the 12G202 number, and different valve caps. It has the photos from two different items on the one listing..mk1 wrote:That head is a brilliant freak!
It is a 295 casting but is a 202 head.
Very, very odd.

I think the description is misleading. It says very rusty floors. There is no rust in the floors. There is no metal either but.....rich@minispares.com wrote:holy hiabs batman!

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Yes, a day out at the scrapyard. How we forget these things.
I remember as a young child (probably about 4 ish think 1980) going to the scrapyard with Dad for bits for his Renault 4 van. Out would come the old (and nice quality) Kamasa socket set and something would be disassembled. Meanwhile, I got to know the various tools by name by being a free little labourer. I clearly remember the trips, cars stacked 6 high in rows. I remember the pile of special cars in the corner, including a Lea Francis, Jowett Javelin, Mk10 Jag and some other bits and bobs. Every car seemed to be a mini, beetle or triumph herald, not forgetting the morris minors.
Years passed and I started driving myself, the first of 11 morris minors was a 68 rose taupe (brown) one. I couldn't afford a beetle and I reckoned Minors were better. Anyway, I remember being in the car about to go the beach for a surf with my mate, was reversing, whacked it in first BANG. Speedo working, no drive. This where the whole course of my life changed....I was back on foot, birthday/christmas (almost the same) came and I got a socket set, haynes manual and a trip to the scrapyard. It was not time to take it to the garage, it was "you've broken it, now you can fix it". I couldn't believe the money I saved. I think the garage wanted about £250 to change a halfshaft. Anyway, I got quite in to tinkering and soon enough had a 56 Splitscreen Minor (with 5.3 FD) fitted with a FULL RACE midget engine. We used to have trips all over the country picking up various cars, which would then get enjoyed, before getting upgraded to something else. I remember in about 2001 getting my first mini, then getting bits from the scrapyard, 12HD24 MG engine for my 64, then I remember seeing small valve 1275 engines going for scrap and thinking "Small valves, don't want one of them" but in the same breath knowing that really, some day, we'd be paying £600 for one on ebay.
Gradually the suzuki sjs, minis, minors, beetles and finally metros became as rare as the Javelin and Mk10 Jag, I can't remember the last time I went to the scrapyard, but it was probably disappointing. Everything's on ebay now. RIP Dad, RIP scrapyard.

Holy crap Batman, £1700 per seat!
The last mint pair I saw sell went for about £2K and I thought that was high, I picked up a similar set this year for well less than half of that. They are NOS but maybe those boxes are worth a few quid??

That's just stupidly insane! Ive bought cars cheaper, as have most on here. You have to laugh if there was a family of mice living in them .Nick W wrote:They looked to need the frames painting due to rust ...but when will you see any of these again !
