While it does look ugly (maybe a bit like Rich
) IMO, quite usable, just take any high spots off.

I would say that despite it looking pretty gnarly, about 80% of the taper is still pretty much OK. Take off the high spots with a fine file, give it a damned good lapping & it should be OK.
I'd certainly use it again.
